The proper display is to wear the Blue Field always facing forward; As in your front side.
Thank You Kevin
Thank You Kevin
Although not expressly addressed by Title 4 United States Code, the patch may be worn on a uniform in a manner in which; the blue field shall be toward the front. If you wear it on the left sleeve, it will appear normal. Wearing it on your right sleeve makes it appear backward.

The reason is that the stars are always placed facing forward, as if the flag is blowing in the wind as the person (or airplane, or car) is moving forward. If you do it otherwise, it can be interpreted as moving backwards, or retreating.
I don't think you could have asked for a better explanation... good stuff Chief.

CBz
it should appear as though it were flying...Blue field to the front.....
Thank You All Kevin
Be careful sewing a flag to your turnout gear: Some states have tried to enact anti-flag burning laws!
as long a you wear it well, thats good enough for me
Really, never thought of it that way,I guess I see their point, but there is nothin wrong with being proud of your flag and the great country that it stands for!
In case I wasn't clear, I was totally taking the piss with you guys. We didn't have any patches on our gear back in the US, I think because they were a fire hazard.

If you can find a flag that dosen't compromise your gear, I'd say go for it. I had a US flag on my helmet back in the day, I figure America is tough enough to withstand a bit of heat! If you're ever in DC, check out the American History Museum at the Smithsonian. They have the flag the flew over Fort McHenry, it's a bit worse for the wear, but it's condition says more about the country it represents than words could ever say.
Exactly what I forgot to mention. Thanks Oldman.
