Light Law for each State or Province.

I would just like a few questions answered without the (no they shouldn't be used - yes they should be used) I am just trying to collect information about each State and Province for stats. This is about Pov's.

4) Is the Pov's in your State considerd an Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light:

5) Is the Pov's in your Province considerd and Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light:

6) Who issues the Light in your State:

7) Who issues the Light in your Province:

8) Who pays for the Light in your State:

9) Who pays for the Light in your Provicne:

If Volunteers that use Lgihts in their Pov's could answer these questions it would help me collect some important stats.

When I finish the collecting and prosses of the stats I will post them for everyone to see what the numbers are for and what they mean.

to answer your above questions, in Michigan (Troy) 1.the color is red or red/white, white must turn off in park. 2. the pov is an emergency vehicle if the emergency veh. reqistration form is completed and sent in. 3. most cities you buy your own light and siren, Troy will issue you a light and siren. (you can still purchase your own approved equipment) 4. in order to be able to operate any emergency vehicle in mich. you have to pass a class called emergency vehicle driving PA(public act) 300

4) Is the Pov's in your State considerd an Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light:Emergency, though you must obey all traffic laws from my understanding people must pull over for anyone running a blue light though its a fairly new law i believe, Chiefs can run red lights as well.

6) Who issues the Light in your State:None one its up to the person if they want one or not Though if you have a light you must carry a letter and idenfication stating you have premission to use it from your Chief

Here in North Carolina our color is red. It is strictly a courtesy light. Must have chiefs ok to run lights we buy our own lights

2) Which Province: Curry County (Southern Oregon Coast)

POV’s in Oregon are considered personal vehicles and as such are not allowed to use emergency lights of any kind. The emergency flasher lights on POV’s are also not allowed.

6) Who issues the Light in your State: The emergency agency provides emergency lighting for all its agency vehicles.

7) Who issues the Light in your Province: The emergency agency provides all emergency lighting for its vehicles.

8) Who pays for the Light in your State: The emergency agency pays for the emergency lighting on its emergency vehicles.

9) Who pays for the Light in your Province: The emergency agency pays for the emergency lighting on its emergency vehicles.

4) Is the Pov's in your State considerd an Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light: Emergency vehicle as long as it meets SC Code of Law 56-5-4700 (lights) and 56-5-4970 (siren)

5) Is the Pov's in your Province considerd and Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light: See above, and as long as Lexington County Policy is met

6) Who issues the Light in your State: Individual purchase as far as I know

7) Who issues the Light in your Province: Individual purchase

8) Who pays for the Light in your State: Individual cost as far as I know

9) Who pays for the Light in your Provicne: Individual cost

2) Which Province: (change this to include county, township, burrough...) for me it's Santa Barbara County

3) What color Light: (again, you might consider asking color for LEO's verses fire departments. As far as I know, the entire state uses red lights, strobes, flashers for the fire departments and LEO's use blue lights. I might add that the use of Green lights seems to be the standard for ICP identification. (Incident Command Post, regardless of agency)

4) Is Are the Pov's in your State considerd an Emergency ~~Vechile~~ vehicle is it a Courtesy Light: Code 3 vehicles are publicly owned vehicles for the most part. There are volunteer fire departments that have Code 3 lighting that are not part of a city, county or state agency. Regardless, they all use Red lights.

5) Is Are the Pov's in your Province considerd and Emergency Vechile or is it a Courtesy Light: Same as answer for #4.

6) Who issues the Light(s) in your State: They are purchased through vendors by individual agencies, jurisdictions or fire departments.

7) Who issues the Light in your Province: S/A, but there are not provinces in the state of California...

8) Who pays for the Light in your State: Same as answer for #6.

9) Who pays for the Light(s) in your ~~Provicne~~ Province: Same as answer for #7

I am only asking about vol. ff pov's not fire trucks. When I say Province that is for Canadians and States is for you. I don't ask county because would the whole State have the same light law. Then from what I have seen each State has different light laws as does the Provinces in Canada.

You might want to include if a siren is required and if the lights much be visible 360 degrees. Just a thought because those are part of the laws here in Michigan.
