My helmet color discussion is better than your helmet color discussion, and we need another extrication PPE thread, too
We don't have enough competing "What does helmet color mean in your department" threads running, so I thought I'd start another one. Of course, mine is better, because it was started by, well, me. While we're on the topic, let's get off the topic and discuss whether we should wear turnout gear, wildland firefighting gear, extrication gear, or just go naked and wear Dutch wooden shoes while performing extrication. Of course, if that were a seperate thread, it would be better than all of the other "What to wear to your friendly local extrication" threads, too, because, well, I'm just in too much of a hurry to post my thread so I can't be bothered with a basic site search to see if 785 other people have previously started still-open discussions on the same topics.
So, if you have a transparent helmet, does that mean that you can't go inside burning structures unless you wear wildland gear or go naked to extrications, or what?

That's not the issue. There is already a discussion about it, which we clearly linked to. we're dealing with the issue and there will be a response from the publication later today. We're all firefighters...and last I checked we are not racist either so there will be a response. Just was trying to steer everyone to where the debate was happening....

Does it come as a black helmet with a blue light? Or a yellow helmet with red and white lights? Or black with red and white, or yellow with blue? Or black with yellow reflectors and all three colored lights? Is it only for chiefs? I thought Chiefs wore white? Is if for probies or captains? What color should it be? I'm so confused.

When I first joined FFN I noticed that there are multiple similar groups, and wondered why these groups could not be merged? I guess the same goes for these threads. When a new helmet color thread gets posted, should it not be simply merged with the old one? I agree posting a new thread is simply lazy, but this is not a problem unique to FFN.
