When this first came out , everyone was joining and communicating . Now when you ask someone why they are not on , they say the excitement is gone . Is it because we are all so busy these day s? Is it time to change the cover page ? Have we run out of discussions? I have personally learned things on this site that I am not sure I would have . Their are allot of great ideas here . And the photos , some are sad and some are very funny . I say , lets get this going strong again . Remember when we were all pushing to get the total joined to 25,000? It was climbing fast and then the brakes were applied . Talk to all on your department . Lets get new members and the old ones back . I recently sent a message to all my " freinds " and received 2 back .I spoke to allot of them that have said they just have not been on . Good luck to all . God Bless and Be safe .

I'm on most days, sometimes just looking, seeing what threads have been resurrected and what not. Most times I don't have a comment, especially on some of the more technically driven discussions, due to a lack of experience with structural fires and/or having nothing new to add. But I can say that I've learned quite a bit about how to approach things and considerations on the fire ground that I wouldn't have thought of. As far as the site goes, I think it's fine the way it is. No better or worse than other socially driven sites I've been a part of. But, I'm open minded, there are lots of good ideas floating around out there.

I don't think there needs to be much of an appearance change. I do agree with Jeff that there are too many similar groups. It would be great if these groups could be merged somehow, keeping the existing posts but starting fresh as merged groups. Maybe there needs to be an approval process for new groups to keep the duplicate efforts from happening again.

Next the Forums and the Blogs? For the most part these seem to be treated the same by most people. I just wrote my first blog, and to tell the truth it could have just as well have been a new forum post. I don't know if we need two separate areas that are essentially the same. Even if it means that I don't get to blog, maybe new blogs should be restricted.

Maybe we could have an area just for patch collectors, so that we don't have to have both the blogs and the forums inundated with new threads that get very few replies advertising a new patch collector. I collect patches too, but it takes away from the news and training that goes on here. Maybe just a check box on your profile that says patch collector, then let that be searchable. Oh yeah and ban any further what color is your helmet posts.
Anytime you add 2000 probies a month to an organization(FFN) your going to have to rehash stuff over and over gain. Searching past links might help. But, try searching one of the favorite whacking topics 'lights on POV's' and you get 47 pages to look through. Easier for a newbie to just post the question again.

I take this site as it is. It is a social networking site and not a training site. Even the great training forums my not apply to me. I'm in a well hydranted area. I know nothing about tanker shuttling nor would it help me here. I don't worry about manpower issues or fundraising ideas. But I do enjoy reading Aussie typing(Tony) or having some support for my bought of man-o-pause.
ya id love it but i dont really know how to get that idea into the right hands
You realize that you are encouraging him?
I know since I signed up I have tried adding people from my state but it looks like alot of them joined last spring and haven't been back since. I wonder if they went to a different site that seemed to have a membership surge right around the same time. And what is with the 100 invite limit here? If none of my invites ever come back on here again does this mean I can't ever invite anyone else?
I would love to be able to talk to you guys when you are logged on instead of waiting to read your replies at a later time.
I think we all appreciate a woman who has such a spectacular set..................of wings.
If you want something different to look at, go here: http://fireemsblogs.com/
Ray, I have been on a while and it seems to go in streams. It surges for a while then slows down as people drift away. Just the way it goes though. Yes, I agree, lets spread the word and get some new blood in here. Always a good thing and HEY! we havnt got the lock on the door. Bring them on!!!!
finally a woman that admits it lol
ALK:
That is a site that was created by the folks who brought you FirefighterNation. It complements the Nation. Dave and Chris have brought together some of the top bloggers in the US and Great Britain into a "superstore" if you will.
FirefighterNation/FireEMSBlogs are together; just like FirefighterNation and FireRescue Magazine. And JEMS. Can't forget to mention JEMS.
I can't function without a daily dose of Geezer.
