My buddy just leaves his in, or if there's a time that he don't have em in, he's got the glasses insert for his scott mask that he leaves in his mask bag
I work a 24/48 shift, so I keep my contacts in on my days on and take them out on my nights off.
I wear glasses(got tired of fussing with contacts) and I leave them at the engine. It's been my experience that with the smoke, low light, condensation, water and steam in a fire, my view of things is about the same with my glasses or without them!

I leave my contacts in all the time. Sometimes they do dry out in a mask if I forget to blink though.
i leave mine in...you may want to keep a bottle of drops in your gear bag...just an idea...that way if you get on a call & they start 2 dry out u do have ur drops...i didnt have any problems during our burn for mod1 certification
I've worn contacts for about 10 years now and haven't had any problems wearing them while wearing a mask.

I don't take them out at night, so I keep a small bottle of drops with me.
I've never had a problem with mine, although I keep a bottle of drops in the inside pocket of my bunker coat. At night, I grab my glasses because I don't want to take time to put my contacts in.
I don't wear glasses or contacts myself, but I know a few guys/gals that have the inserts in their Scott masks. Don't know if anyone wears contacts packed up, though. Just keep running and you'll fall into a comfortable routine.
Don't know when the last time you been to the optometrist...but they do make contacts where you can actaully wear them for up to three weeks. So for me, I leave them in when I sleep the nights i'm at the station. I keep drops next to me before I go to sleep. When I get a call, I just pop in a few drops and run for the truck. I do sleep without them when I'm home just to give my eyes a break. Next time you go for your fitting, try ask the doc about Acuvue Oasys or a contact called Night and Day...they really are better than the old school ones...they still dry out a little when you sleep...but not that much...hope it helps...stay safe!!!
As a vol. firefighter I usally leave my contacts in when I goto bed. When I do take them out I usally grab my glasses I have gotten fast enough to put my contacts in with time to get to our station but I will for the most part reach for my glasses. Being near sighted when it comes to having to put a scott pack on if I dont have my contacts in I go in with out my glasses tryed once to leave them on and all they did was fog up.
That's exactly what I do. I have the "Day & Night" contacts and when I'm at the station for the night, I leave them in. When I'm at home and we get a call, I will stop to put contacts on because I don't have glasses made for my mask, but I have the routine down so I can put the contacts in pretty fast.

I also keep a small waterproof bag with me when I go on calls... it has spare contacts, my glasses, eye drops, etc. I just grab it whenever I go on a call.
For training I usually wear my contacts. If a call comes in for a structure or vehicle fire I put my contacts in as I may have to mask up. Any thing else I don't bother fussing with them.
