Where are you from, how long have you been in the fire service, what made you join?
Me?
I'm from Voorheesville, NY, I just had my one year anniversary with my FD, and I joined not just for the adrenaline rush, although that's part of it; I joined because I work for a firematic association, and I got tired of feeling guilty for not joining.
hello all. i am Marvin from Ridge Farm,Illinois. i am volunteer fireman, medical first responder, severe weather spotter, and hazmat team member for my community and around the county. i have been involved in the fire service going on 6 years now. i must say, one of the toughest and most demanding jobs that i have ever grown to love. in closing, i would like to apologize for a possible re-post. too many groups. lol!!!!!!! can't remember which one i am replying to half of the time. be safe and take care.

(in case ur wondering my other time was served in a cadet program) I joined because i love the feeling i get when i help others...EMS side. when i see someone in trouble and cant help them, my heart just sinks.

My name is Colin. Originally from Miami Fl. Volunteered with Key Largo Volunteer Fire and Rescue for a year. Now work for Marion County Fire Rescue in North Central Florida. Have 3 months on. Station 32 "Liberty Watchdogs" B-shift. Love the crew, love the action, love the job. Train like its real, and train hard. It has paid off on the tuff calls. Hello all.............
My name is Kyle and I'm with the Jamaica Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Jamaica Beach, Tx. I've been with the department for 7 months and just finished fire school. I joined because of the tremendous job my fellow firefighters did after Hurricane Ike and decided that I needed to give back to the community as well. I now find myself a "fireholic" as well and wondering why I didn't do this years ago.
Howdy folks, I have been a volunteer ff with Cowgill, Mo (nice town of about 250) since early 2001, and was in a volunteer search and rescue group for about 3 years before that. I love helping people and especially FNG's so if there might be a rural question feel free to ask and i may even need some help from the senior guys i saw here. I live about 6 miles from the station so i keep my gear with and usually respond straight to the scene, which has gotten me some nice dumb dumb stories but mostly alot of good experience that i would love to share.
hello everyone, I am a firefighter from Waterloo, New York. I am a probie (been active for 6 months). I joined because I needed something in my life to feel like I am making a difference. I wanted to join years ago but afriend talked me out of it, I just recently decited to give it a shot and see if it was for me and fell in love from the start. I honestly think the vehicle extrication drill I attended is what did it for me. I hope to post some of my experiences and accomplishments here and maybee help others on the edge to jump in and give it a shot.
Hello everyone. My name is Holly and Ive been with Frazer Township VFD in Pennsylvania for a little over 2 years. Originally joined the fire service to help out a friend and realized how much I loved it. I'm a lifer for sure.
HEY HOW U DOINNNNNGGG i'm gary "lil boombatz" d'achille i run volunteer fire in Upper Chichester PA at reliance hook and ladder. I've been there for a month but i've been running fire for 2 years now. I joined because i grew up in the fire house. my father was a house man in lower merion and i spent most of my time under the age of 10 there. i'm pretty damn hyper and my partners usually get pissed at me because of that. tones drop you better be on that bus/truck rearin to go
honestly join asap, any time to a volunteer fire company is valuble and the reward you recieve is better than any college party, you'll also meet really great people, and if the time u give isn't enough well at least you went for it, theres plenty of time and departments but it all depends what you doin in college
I live in Caldwell, Texas run with Caldwell Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. I have been doing this for a little over 13 months, I love it. I joined because I wanted to help people in need.
This is just me, but if you have held off joining because of college, then hold off until you graduate, or ask if they will keep you on reserve til you graduate. My department has already told me when I go to college they will keep me on the roster.
