Texting While Driving PSA: Too Graphic? Appropriate?

Post your thoughts on this British public service announcement about the pitfalls of texting and driving for teens (and adults too, for that matter). It is graphic, and includes the emergency response to the incident. The video is about four minutes long.

We're asking the same question to members of our fire, EMS and law enforcement communities to see if (and how) the reaction to the video differs.

As i have said about other British PSAs in a similar vein, it is spot-on and we in America need to produce more PSAs with the same impact and realism. Cute ad-copy and slogans just don't work with teens, but seeing is believing.

I shared this with my teenage son, a high school senior, and he'll end up sharing with classmates and fellow Scouts.

This is a VERY good video, and about as realistic as they can get it... Many times though I've had to run on calls that were much more graphic than this.. Just last week there was a young girl not wearing a seatbelt and not paying attn to the road and flipped the car.. She ended up being pinned in between the roof and ground.. I went to pick the cell phone up from her hand to give it to the Highway Patrol and it started ringing.. I looked at it and it read "Mommy" on the screen... People need to understand the dangers and how it can affect peoples lives...

So disturbing but must be stated in no uncertain terms how dangerous it is to text and drive. I will be showing it to my teen driver.

Excellent video should be shown in High School and EVERY drivers education class in the USA

I agree, not graphic enough. Im tired of pull kids out of cars and seeing roadside shrines. Maybe they can see that they are not invinceble. Outstanding job with the video!!!!!!!!!!

Too graphic? I don't think it's graphic enough. But I think it does get the point across. Very similar to the "Shattered Lives" program. Excellent video.

I can't believe how the news is playing this to be a bad thing, saying that people think it's to graphic. Yeah, until it's them or there family member. Being cut out by one of us then, We will see what they say. It's sad, I agree with tom this need to be played in driver's ed and every high school student before they get there license. Her in California they have a program that deals, with drinking and driving , but this is a new drug.

This should be shown in every high school to all students that are of the age to drive and every one that is 15 from then on. If they get scared of dying because of something stupid like texting while driving maybe just maybe one less teen or adult will have to die because of an idiot.
