Rochester Firefighters responded late this morning to Mt Hope Ave and Westfall Rd for the report of a motor vehicle accident with people trapped. Engine 8 went on location with a two vehicle mva with on vehicle on its side. Engine 8 further reported that the patient was not trapped and that they needed to stabilize the vehicle. Rural Metro treated two patients, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

It's so hard not to armchair quarterback this one, but....

0.04 seconds- bystanders walking through the scene

0.08 seconds- appears to be a member wearing incorrect PPE in the form of light blue pants (We call them "incident stop pants"!), but I'm also not sure what the US rules are for PPE at MVA's

0.17 seconds- appears to be a member in an FD t-shirt on scene. Again, incorrect PPE

0.18 seconds- member not wearing PPE (turn out jacket) done up correctly

For our crews, I'd also suggest that the pumper should be parked in the "fend off" position, not facing straight into the scene and the members.

It's the little things like the PPE not being worn correctly that really get to me- I've been at MVA's where there's suddenly been a change of conditions (power arc resulted in a pole fire with the car still wrapped around it) and members not dressed for action will get caught with their pants down, so to speak.
