Texting While Driving PSA: Too Graphic? Appropriate?

Post your thoughts on this British public service announcement about the pitfalls of texting and driving for teens (and adults too, for that matter). It is graphic, and includes the emergency response to the incident. The video is about four minutes long.

We're asking the same question to members of our fire, EMS and law enforcement communities to see if (and how) the reaction to the video differs.

That's what we call an "Attention getter". If not we need to reeducate some people, and yes show it in schools, driver's ed, anywhere else to put this in peoples face so as not to forget it. The US should have made this video not the French/English, but thats another topic.

I agree with everyone who said it isn't graphic enough. My loved ones text while driving and I can't get it across to them how dangerous it is. They think they can text and pay attention at the same time. The fact is, you can't be looking at 2 things at the same time. This video would be better if the girl was not partying with other girls in the car. Just someone texting and looking back and forth from the phone to the road would be a better example to those who think they can text and drive. But until that video is made, this one should be mandatory viewing at every school, fire department and public gathering! Should be shown regularly on every TV network!

Graphic?
I don't think it's graphic enough.
It will take more than a PSA to pry the damned cell phone from their cold, dead hands.
Do a poll.
How many of you still text while driving, even though you know someone who was involved in an accident while texting or riding with someone who was texting at the time of the accident.
The results will shock you.
TCSS.

I too, got chills after watching this. I agree that this should be a manditory part of every driver education class. Teens (and adults) should be able to see the consequences of their actions. If the public watching this keeps one accident from happining it is well worth it!!

I agree with a lot of what other members are saying its Not graphic enough. Its a great video to show kids and some adult on what not to do, I got the chills from watching this, and this video makes a great point. Like to see schools use this video and Im going to pass this on to many of my fellow EMT and Fire friends who r not members here.

That was actually very mild compared to what is seen at a real MVA...too bad they didn't show how the victim's families were devastated by the deaths of their loved one's...now that would be graphic....

I think that someone caught DUI, texting etc., as part of their "sentence", should spend time in a major trauma ER to be able to undestand what their actions can cause

Great video, should be on every T.V. in the world. The Question of it being too graphic, not graphic enough. So why should we hide what really happens to make it easier to be viewed. We have seen the public service annoucements on such as drinking and driving.(Don't drink and drive or you will go to jail) Yep those type videos are correct but lets face it after seeing such videos, people tend to forget and most began thinking... want stay in jail long or my lawyer will get me out of it. Seeing a video about a girl that just killed her friends with all the blood and gore tends to stick in your head a lot longer. Not a lawyer, judge or anyone else will erase the images and memories of such a graphic event. This is what we need in America. I'm sure it will save a lot of teenagers, adults and innocent children.

Not graphic enough. It sure would be nice if every kid in NY had to watch this video either when the apply for thier learner permit or durring the five hour course. It would be nice to get the area stations to show this as a P.S.A. or maybe hgave F.A.S.N.Y. sponsor it. I wonder who owns the rights to it? Any body know.

Captain5454:
I might be too graphic for some, but for being involved in vehicle rescues for years, it doesn't compare to the carnage and devastating injuries that I have witnessed, not only from texting, but from careless, agressive, DUI and drug related causes.

Would someone rather have their kids view something graphic or be actually involved in a graphic wreck?
Unfortunately, I suspect that most kids will not take this warning seriously and they think it won't happen to them.
