Ok, 1. What was the firefighters assignment going up the ladder?
2. Why, when he did descend thru the ladder to the ground?

I could see a flashover imminently, before that video even started. So, why the hell was that guy climbing that ladder? Black, turbulent, fast moving smoke. Sorry to be a smart ass, I was at Dave Dodsons' smoke reading last Saturday.

Hmm, I can answer most of your questions lol. I was present as EMS Command for the Ambulance (Don't worry I'm also a FF with Clyde, NY). Yes sir he was climbing the ladder to vent the second story windows, and the IC was not in the proper place. There was a few things that could have been done differently, but all in all it was a good stop. I just think that it had been a while since anyone there had since such rapidly changing smoke conditions and just failed to recongize. Common mistakes. I'm just glad I didn't have to treat any of our own that day.

Wow, with smoke that color, you knew it was going to be a matter of moments before it flashed. Why did he climb the ladder in the first place? Was there an unvented window on the 2nd story?
