Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I had three years as a Paid-on-call FF and though this is a fun job. It was until the germs got more dangerous then the fires.I also worked for one year as a paid FF with what was then the RURAL Fire Dept in Scottsdale, az (now Rural-Metro Fire). We had at least one fire per day if not more, and even in the heat using only John Beam equipment it was still fun, That's John not Jim.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
THE FAMILY AT THE STATION.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
PERSONNEL HEALTH, THE PHYSICALS THAT ARE GIVEN TO MEMBERS BOTH PAID AND VOLUNTEER ARE NOT EXTENSIVE ENOUGH, AS WITHNESSED BY THE AGE OF SOME MEMBERS THAT DIE FROM HEART ATTACKS. THE FEDERAL GRANTS ARE NICE BUT I DO NOT SEE ONE FOR PHYSICALS FOR MEMBERS AS NFPA 1500 CALLS FOR.

Hi Larry,
Came across your name while looking at the member list for Illinois on this site. Sure you don't remember me, but I remember regularly sitting next to you in a class at COD, probably around 1980 - you always made that class much more enjoyable. Take care in your retirement.
