Intro to Fire Officer
About Me:
I joined the newly formed Hartland Fire Company in 1971 and left in 1977 due to moving out of the district. After a four year break, I joined Wrights Corners in 1981, and in 2005, moved again back to my roots and rejoined Hartland in 2005. In these two companies, I have served in many positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, EMS Captain, Fire Police Captain, Parade Marshall and Third Assistant Chief.
My other passion is Boy Scouting. I have been involved off and on since I became a Scout in 1955. I have attended a National Jamboree, (1957), Philmont, National Sea Base, and many years at Summer Camp. After I retired, I worked in our local Scout Store and 9 years at Camp Dittmer. After several years of non-involvement, I am going back to Camp as Shooting Sports Director this year. For my years at Camp, I attended 4 BSA National Camp Schools.
In a couple of weeks I will be moving to Idaho City, Idaho. I will miss family and friends, but this will be a new adventure.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

Why I Love Fire/EMS

Top Issues Facing Responders:
For the Volunteer Service, recruitment and retention of members, and increasing demands on volunteers' time for training.

Any of you who have access to the Buffalo News from Sunday (12-07-08) should read the article on the front page of the Niagara Section. I sent the following to The Union Sun for the 'Guest View' but they wouldn't put it in.

In nearly sixty-five years on this earth, I know I must have received several slaps in the face, both literal and figurative. I can’t, however, remember getting three from three people all at the same time. This happened to me on Sunday, December 7, 2008, when I… Continue
