As a rule of thumb remember this and apply it for the rest of your career. The general public will fail to recognize accomplishments, and the saves made, but will be the first one to point a finger of blame or negligence. Always remain professional, and keep your crew on the same level. Train all you can, and keep doing what you do. Nobody can take the personal knowledge of all you have done away from you, and the self satisfaction and dedication to helping others will continue to make your rescue efforts worth doing. I think you will do fine in the EMT basic class. It sounds like you will have plenty of time to learn everything you need. I know when I took the EMT class there was plenty of time to practice our skills. I have been an EMT-B for 14 years now and have to recert in a week.
