New York State Basic Firefighter, New York State EMT, New York State Fire Police, Ice/Cold water rescue certified.
About Me:
I started out when I was 16 as a youth squad member of the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Commack, (Long Island) New York. While I attended college at SUNY Cobleskill, I volunteered for the Cobleskill Fire Dept Rescue Squad. I moved to the Albany area where I volunteered for the Waterford Rescue Squad where I was a driver. I then moved on to the Town of Colonie, NY EMS Dept. I volunteered there for 7 years, getting my EMT certification. I then moved to the Rochester, NY area and volunteered for the Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance for 2 years, then moved to Brighton, NY where I currently volunteer as a firefighter, and I also am a member of the fire police. I keep my EMT certification current and also assist on EMS calls with the career staff when needed.
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be involved in the emergency services. The show Emergency! was one of my biggest influences. I also grew up in Suffolk County, NY where it was all volunteer fire departments and ambulance corps.
By the way, being a fellow Emergency! fan as well, I love the pictures brother! Fire Station 127...where it all happened! Did you get a tour while you were there? Any interesting facts passed on to you about the station or the show? Great pictures!
Hello Lew,
Yes, I am a former Long Islander! Was a Member of the Northport Fire Dept for 4 years and my father was a 30 year member and past Captain of the Engine Co down there. I moved to Richmondville my senior year of High School and served 11 years and made Lieutenant in the FD and Lt and Captain in the Rescue Squad. I now serve in Cobleskill where I moved to when I met my wife, she is a member here as well so I moved to Cobleskill. Stay in touch and have a great week brother.
