With sites like craigslist, ebay, yahoo shopping, and monster there is little need for items to be sold on FFN. WebChief has been very clear that he won't tolerate it. It brings on too much bs, too much liability and there is no way for buyer protection and fraud would occur.

All good input. A want ad might be the right thing. You can describe what you want to sell or what you are looking for.
If set up like e-bay, I can see it being a bad thing. BUT if it was setup more like a "want ads" type deal where you just post a description of what you are selling or wanting to buy I can see how this could be a good thing.
BTW does anybody know of a department looking to sell Scott 4.5 AirPacks? My department is in the process of trying to buy some used but good condition packs to refurbish and bring up to date. We stumbled on enough to equip our first due engine from a department that had recently switched over to MSA Nitehawks -- got a heck of a deal on their Scotts -- pretty much brand new. Hopefully we can find the rest in the same manner instead of paying $5000/each for them. Give me a yell if you hear of something.
Without all the security and support that sites such as ebay and paypal offer, I too think it's a bad idea. Even firefighters can be dishonest in sales and transactions- not worth the hassle....

Why do you say that it would be a bad idea?
