Politics and Union Fire Fighters - oil and water !
Are your rights under your Union contract "Enforcible" ?
Will you recieve the full support of your Union Reps if : Your a Sportsmen or gun owner ?
What if you are from one Political Party and the Admin personel are from another ?
Do you actually have "Freedom of Speach" at work ?
Would you be willing to bet your carreer on it ?
Would you be willing to stake your retirement benefits and healthcare on it ?
Do your own home work - read the contract and the "Collective Bargaining agreement" for your self.
If your brought up on charges - will your Union hire a lawyer for you or to protect the Union Admin against possible suits you might file against them for wrongful termination ? ! ?
Why does it seem every time we negotiate a new contract - it appears we are going backwards ! ? !
Does it seem a handful of people in your Department get a lions share of the over-time and paid training perks ?
I loved my job - I found that filling my childhood dream the best decission I ever made. I have always been a Dues paying Union worker - first with the UAW for over 13 years , then with BFD Local 282 for 23 years.
Wow , how times have changed - Politics has swept us in the wrong direction - cash for favors doesnt work and never did - well only for that small handful that feed off the majority Union Members Dues >

I had a mate over here in Oz who went to the union to get some help with higher ranking member of his agency about some discrimination issues and the union refused to assist him as the other person was a paid up member as well- they refused to get invovled as it was member against member..... :(
