A few weeks ago i took a class called Firefighter survival, saving our own. This class was the most challenging, most tiring thing i have ever done. I left the two day event sore with bruises on my legs and arms and back pain like you wouldnt believe. However, I am sooooo glad that I took the class. Not only did we train on drills that involved saving other firefighters like the Denver drill but we also practiced saving ourselves. Going headfirst down a ladder and bailing out a second story window with just some rope and a haligan were some of the things included. It also had some amazing classroom time. Now normally im with everyone else and cannot stand to be sitting in the training room watching a slideshow but this was totally differant. There were some incredible videos and sound bites and even a training on special knots to get yourself out of a building should you ever need to. I hope I never have to use the training i learned in this class, but now I have the confidence to know that I can if i ever need to. If you ever have the oppertunity to take this class, DO IT!!
