Two North Carolina Firefighters Killed Battling Five-Alarm Mill Blaze

Updated 7pm ET -- Two firefighters have died and four others were injured after battling a five-alarm fire at a lumber yard in Rowan County, North Carolina.



According to a Rowan Regional Medical Center official, one firefighter died on the way to the hospital, the second died after arrival. Two other firefighters are being treated at Rowan Regional. The extent of their injuries is not known, WCNC reported.

The dead firefighters were identified Friday afternoon as 40-year-old Victor Isler and 19-year-old Justin Monroe of the Salisbury Fire Department.

It's a sad day in the world of Fire Fighters,My thoughts and Prayers are with the Salisbury Fire Dept and the Families of the loss ones and the injured ones that tryed to save their Fellow Brothers.I am Glad to know that we have sent Ladder 21 from Thomasville Fire to cover and aid in this time of need from Hurting Brothers it's the best we can do becuase we all know that the calls don't stop coming in.FTM-PTB-RFB FEO NicholsDelete Comment

To all the fireman in Salisbury. We all lost two brothers today. May God be with all of you.May the families have a peace .Hope that the other one will have a speed recover. My pray will be with the families and friends .

As a former Salisbury Firefighter, words alone cannot express the deepest sorrow in my heart. Today I lost two bothers in the fire service. My prayers go out to the other firefighters that were injured for a speedy recovery. May god watch over you all in this desperate time of need.
