Fire Department grants dying wish: Sad Postscript

William McKay, the little seven year-old boy granted firefighter status by the Colonie Fire Department died today. See my previous blog post on this.

I don't know why God takes the innocent and the young, and it's not for me to know or understand. I'm just glad that his last days were made a little brighter and I'm so proud that the Colonie Fire Department played a role in that.

Helmets off to the Colonie FD for a job well done, what a brave group of men, it is probably 100 times harder to enter a room of a dying young child like that, then the hottest of fires. Once again you have shown bravery and courage. Rest in peace little brother.

I'm of the opinion that the Fire Departments should be in contact with their local Make a Wish office to establish a relationship and make themselves available if needed. This isn't the only child who has a last wish of wanting to be a firefighter.

The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways.If This Doesn't bring A Tear To Your Eye,There Is Something Wrong With You.Let's Hope We Can All Make A Wish Like This Come True.

I am sorry to hear that he passed away but I am glad he got his wish and was made a firefighter by the Colonie Fire Department.
