I am so easy to amuse. And, I am sad that I will be missing Halloween at home because I'll be in a class. Oh well!

A while ago, I posted a short story about an old fire lieutenant and his death in a flashover. Just yesterday, I entered that story in a contest on Helium.com in the short story section. Wish me luck.

I've had some real ups and downs over the last week or so, the least of which is my own frustration with not being able to resolve a problem that vexes me greatly. On a positive note, I was approached about contibuting some PIO related things for my agency. I'm hoping that this is going to be a big boost to our public image and I'm excited about getting to use my developing talents.

Oh, and one little soapbox kind of thing. Be true to yourself and those around you. It is not amusing, funny, or entertaining to f*** with the lives of the people around you by telling stories or manipulating facts. Getting people ticked off just because you can, another crappy thing to do.

OK, this is my second reply today, so sorry if I ramble. I think it's cool you like to write, because so do I. I'm just not as good at it. My point is this: you seem to have the traits it takes to want to do things the right way. In my experience it seems people like to hang with or follow those who do things with integrity; it might as well be you! Don't let the snakes in the grass bother you, they usually are flushed out and meet an unfortunate demise. Good luck and stay safe.
