I don't have a lot to say on this matter, except "Use your heads" when pulling pranks. There are many more imaginative ways to prank someone then to screw with their gear. As far as I'm concerned, screwing with gear not only lacks imagination, but also smarts. Gear is only manufacturer guaranteed if it is not tampered with and is in it's proper working condition, not full of cream, or oils or sand or bottles or whatever else someone feels fit to put in gear. Insurance companies are pretty picky when it comes to paying out claims and covering wages. I've seen men with "Smokers cancer" who never smoked a day in their lives not covered, how on earth do you expect them to cover a broken ankle because you slipped in the shaving cream in your boots?

Be careful, have fun, but don't compromise safety. Come up with something imaginative!

Oh, and don't mess with my food!! ;)

Hello Spanner 122-

I am a local artist based out of Phoenix, AZ and have been hired to do a drawing of a firefighter killed at the WTC. I saw the photograph you use for your avatar and was wondering if I can obtain permission to use it in my drawing. Do you have any info. on whose photograph it is? Thanks! ~Ruth

Messing with gear is a big no-no, along with anything that will hamper response times, messing with rigs, etc.

I agree. Messing with gear is a big "no-no" and heaven help you when you're found out that you're the one who pulled the prank. Now short sheeting the bed is ok in my department but touch the gear and you'll be run out on a rail.

Same here, Ive seen quite a few good pranks in my short two years in my firehouse. None, however; done to anyones gear. We have a STRICT policy about not messin with gear. Mainly because, before i got on, somebody put a big sticker on someones mask and when it came time to use for real, well you get the idea. Pranks are great, they can relieve some serious stress and take up time on those shifts where not much happens. Please just dont mess with anyones gear
