What a kick ass fire season it has been already 20 calls since the first of August the troops are starting to show the wear and tear a little. Are grocery bill for the first week of August was over $800.00 feeding the department. Everybody is getting a little nervous we continue to get smoke calls almost daily everything is tinder dry and temperatures are soaring into the upper ninetys and one hundred degrees this week. A mean light show moved through the area early Saturday the 9th of August the crews were out from 3am till after 5pm on six different calls and the WADNR is running crazy they have had strike teams here from all over the state and helicopters flying all over just like a war zone. July 31 we had the Green Lake Fire started in a pumphouse unoffical of course you should of seen the pressure tank take off atleast 200 feet in the air and just after a cobra helicopter had passed over it to darn close for comfort. 2700 acres total for that one no houses lost though the crews did a good job keeping it off the structures. everybody be safe and make sure and have a little fun along the way.
