THE POSITION MAY, IN THE EYES OF SOME, APPEAR TO BE A LOWLY ONE; BUT THOSE WHO KNOW THE WORK WHICH A FIREMAN HAS TO DO BELIEVE HIS IS A NOBEL CALLING. OUR PROUDEST MOMENT IS TO SAVE LIVES.UNDER THE IMPULSE OF SUCH THOUGHTS THE NOBILITY OF THE OCCUPATION THRILLS US AND STIMULATES US TO DEEDS OF DARING,EVEN OF SUPREME SACRIFICE. Edward F. Hi Kevin. Shawn Lee here. Thanks for checking my blog. I will try to get some pictures in the next few days. In the meantime, just to give you some ideas, our burn building was constructed using six old cargo shipping containers. They are arranged in a "U" shape, two high. The containers were sandblasted and painted black. You need a couple of guys good with torches and welders to cut windows and cut away the nonopening ends of the containers if you go with something like this. The interior is set up like a two-story residential structure thanks to some fabrication and custom construction. We have a mock kitchen area complete with an old refrigerator and stove, a bathroom with an old tub (old cast iron type), two stairways, a stud wall prop for drills on working your way through a wall for emergency escape, and a couple of small "burn boxes" that can be moved to different areas of the building. We have one large "burn box" set in one of the lower rooms and this is where we simulate indirect attacks and hydraulic ventilation. I will be happy to answer any questions and help any way I can so feel free to drop me a line anytime. Be safe.
