My department is still known for things that happened 20 years ago. Not good things such as running out of fuel on the way to the scene and showing without water. There were times when no one knew how to run the pump.
This is not my department now. But it is still how we are thought of. I have been tring to shake this image and it's hard. No matter how many homes we save folks just remember the bad stuff from years ago.

My family hasn't had a new baby in 26 years. So I never knew what it was like to be around a baby as an adult. This past summer my nephew and niece both had babies. My nephew had twin girls, My niece had a boy about a month apart. It was love at first sight they melted my heart. Last night one of the girls looked at me and smiled and started talking baby talk to me. Well she won me over big time, it was one of those moments I will never forget.
