So my brother was Asst Chief of one dept, and Lt on another... When both departments are on scene at the same structure fire?

Is my brother a Chief or a Lt?

Which dept does he work for?

Who is giving him command ?

Who is taking command from him?

Yes, talking about it does not mean you have not made your choice. I just wanted to understand you better and wanted you to hear some about my experience with this situation... being that I am as old as dirt... and come from a firefighter family... so have LOTS of stories to share...

Become the best firefighter you can be on ONE department, so that your attention is not divided, and you can build your skills and relationships in one department.

hmmm... is call # the most important aspect of being a firefighter?

do you really believe that to gain one thing you will not have to lose another thing?

think about that further - what do you think you will lose or compromise if you take on a commitment to a second department?

So this issue of multiple departments. The other fire fighters can have opinions about it as well. What do you think they think about this issue?

Your chief may be a great girl who supports her team members to do what is personally best for them, but can that chief also rely on their members to do what is best for the department?

Kyle - I feel strongly about the 2nd dept issue - so I really wanted to talk to you personally about it.

Can you tell me what was compelling you to consider a 2nd department?

What are you hoping to gain?

What do you think you will lose?
