I do admit the hours are a big committment but when you are done, you can get hired w/o repeating the academy and can go to any pro-board accredited state and be accepted as certified.

Ahh everyone here, the certificates are the same duration so FF1 is 212hrs and FF2 is 116hrs regardless if your paid or volunteer. Same training.

So if you were to get hired does your certificate allow you to be paid firefighter or do you need to go back for the 13 week program like your brother?

In my state everyone must complete those hours to be FT. It is a requirement for the entry level paid FF.

We have a Boot Camp style called Recruit School - takes most of the summer for FF-1 and FF-2

Our Pro-Board Certified J&B Firefighter-1 is 212 hours and the Firefighter 2 is 116 hours in length.
