This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Good Morning Everyone - hope you all are well. I have not seen many of you around since the holidays - hope the eggnog did not kill you off... hee hee
I was thinking now that 2012 is up us - we need new festive and naughty new year handles - so anyone have any suggestions on what I should change my handle to ???
So since this story is about my nephew, Jonathan, who just turned age 3 yesterday - and it made me bust out laughing - I had to re-post it for you fine people : ) My friends :)
i was thinking if it was my personal property i would use a wooden dog house with an a-frame roof, the normal dog door I would make a closeable hinged door for my access, and then make the 2 cat furry flapped doors under the sheltered sides of the roof and them I would line the inside of the shelter with the soft foil reflectix insulation then a 4-5" straw floor - allowing air circulation to prevent mildew and allows cat fur to dry
I would elevate the wooden house 6-10" off the ground, perhaps on pallets to reduce problems with snow storms of 4-8"
and I would cut skylights in the a-frame roof (with hinged wooden doors to close in the summer) and instead of the foil insulation on the skylights, I would use the water heating pool cover material in those spots (foil side down) to draw heat into the house... then I would place the structure in sunlight
my structures now are not in the sun (again not my property), so I did not do the skylights in my totes, but I know people who do.

re: totes... I wanted to be able to wash them if a skunk sprays them too
sorry to hear about your parents... I am sure you will get it figured out.
I was thinking about using spray insulation - but then I wanted to be able to dismantle and adapt the structure as needed - not sure how easy that would be with spray insulation.
Already once I had to take one of the structures apart and wash it, since a tom cat sprayed it - yuck - and scared away the elderly girl kitties - i was able to take it apart and wash it with bleach and put it back together (without even having to remove the foil insulation duct taped inner lining... then the girls kitties came back :)
