(for those of you that have been around last year and knew about this upsetting event with my grandfather dying and my grandmother being abused by my aunt)...

.

so my aunt that actively screwed over my elderly, sick grandmother for an extended period of time... driving her into poverty and making her homeless and putting intense stress on her already fragile health... lives in Marysville, Indiana... which was leveled by a tornado yesterday... Karma is a B*tch...

Naughty Jim I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.This system of life and death is so tough. I am sure his family was very grateful to know that you were caring for him so they know everything possible was done to save him. While it is very tough, there is a sense of comfort about knowing who cared for your loved one in their final stage of life... and to know that caregiver person also cared about your loved one... helps ease the pain.

Catlin - switching States is a BIG deal! Are you still on the same FD or did you also switch. What is up with University, when are you starting and what will you be studying?

Sarah - we are here is you want to share what is going on with you and your department - perhaps we can help... especially since a bunch of us have been around the FD for decades... maybe we can help make this easier for you.

Thanks Jim!! I need to straighten some stuff out and a leave of absence just wasn't gonna cut it. So I retired. It will be tough for now, especially being right down the road from the station.

Hey everyone!! Been awhile since I've been here! I retired Sunday after 20 years with my department, hardest thing to do in my life!! It's for the better right now. My chief was understanding and left the door open for me to return if I want to in the future.

Not much has changed, actually. Moved states and am still volunteering. Going for an incident reporting position at HQ, just waiting for a word back. Other than that I'm looking at going to university and stuff.
