So since it is tradition - no one researched if it is a good idea?

There are major laws in other industries on this matter.

Could it be argued that family members are MORE valuable in some ways? And therefore the FD has not sought to change it?

Back to my earlier question - at least on the vollie dept?

So what do you think would be the different concerns / benefits from paid to vollie?

are vollies so desperate that they will accept anyone?

are the primary people that volunteer - come from families that volunteer in a given industry?

if you are a family member do you get more support?
do better in ff school?
handle stress better?
know more from the onset - transferred down from the family members?

So any idea where I can find any research or article about this family member matter? I want to know more - I want to know what is going on in the fire service about it?

Any suggestions?

Is anyone looking into this matter?

It seems that related FFs in some ways would be more valuable - and I wonder if that is worth them being a pain in the ass?

So do you guys think there should be ANY laws in place - paid or vollie - about managing people who are related to each other?

and what about testing for promotions in depts - so favorites are not chosen for roles/officerships, etc.?
