This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

my dad who has the alzheimers is quite cruel - but he has always been quite cruel... one of our bigger problems is my high-functioning, intellectually only, mother who has now taken it upon herself to exact revenge upon my dad for all the years he was abusive towards her - so she is constantly attacking him and belittling him and exploiting him, etc. etc. etc. and he is no condition to defend himself.... and my mom defends her actions as "he is cruel... and has been cruel for decades... and preyed upon me being more fragile... and now the shoe is on the other foot" ...ugh...
.
Sorry Jim - it is so tough to see the parents become the children. So sorry it is so hard on your mom... as they age they begin to enter survival mode much like a toddler, so they do not even know what they are saying - they are just scared and confused... Please know that they are better because of your efforts to care for them...

yeah not a good idea to shave a cats belly to be neutered when it is so cold... hypothermia is what kills them... i hope he just went a wandering...'
.
glad it is moving towards Delightful :)
.
how is your family doing lately?
now I need to create a plan to start catching all these homeless kitties and getting them neutered and released back into their colony so we do not have a flood of kittens... I have been waiting until it warmed up... so even though it is still chilly during the day, I think we have finally started warming our days up... and maybe no more 40 F degree nights...
bbbbrrrrrrr it is SSSOOOO cold here.... 84 F degrees ;-)
Jim sounds like you have been working your tail off... how fairs your weather these days?
.
Brian sounds like you had a tough decision to resign from your department. I remember the day I resigned... it is true... there are times in life we need some space to work on other responsibilities and tasks in our lives... we serve as long as we can, then we have to consider changing priorities some times.... life is short... and there is so much to accomplish in such a short time... I am sure your community was well-served by all of the years that you worked for them... and you can hold your head high and know that there is a time and season for everything and currently it is a time and season for some other things in your life... but please don't leave us :) we enjoy your company !!! And we are here if you ever want to talk...
yeah Sarah - there are many many many times all of us wanted to resign from our departments... it is actually a common feeling... since the FD can be filled with drama and political bs and egos that are bigger than the State you live in... ya gotta be able to talk it through... so take Jim up on his offer.. and as you know... you can always find me privately as well...
