The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

You know it would not bother me at all if on hte days when I don't have to do anything I could be like the rest of the world and sleep in, but oh no..... 2 am rolls around and I am up, awake, and bored to tears... But I can't go back to sleep so I find my handy dandy little flashlight and read my book.

LOL patti trust me on this one i see it to alot , majority of my call volume at work is night shift because i have more staffing during the day so i let them run most of the calls while i catch some to little to no sleep and my schedule usually goes haywire after all of it but i have grown accustomed to it

It seems that everytime I sign up for the swing/graveyard shift at the main station my schedule goes absolutely haywire! lol.... I wonder if that is telling me something.....

I Totally understand the 16-18hr days Patti , when i am at work i work 4 18-19hrs shifts 4 days in a row so i end up staying at the station then i have 36hr off shift then i work an 8hr shift to have another 36hrs off then start all over again
