Sounds inetersting Kevin. I was real thankful there wasn't much fire involved on this one. Felt a little better when I didn't see a smoke column while enroute to the station.

Was my first train fire and it did prove to be interesting. Learned that the fuel tanks on each engine hold up to 5000 gallons of diesel! This one had 3790 in it.

Tom , thats not a fire call you get everyday, thankfully no one was lost and damage was to the engine it self

Thanks Chief! Definitely need some of the that!!!

had an interesting run on Saturday afternoon. Pager goes off for a train on fire. Did a double take looking at my pager..."did they say a train on fire?" While heading to the station I asked dispatch if it was the engine on fire or one of the cars it was pulling, they advised it was one of the engines. Got on scene and just a small fire in the engine area where a motor blew after coming a big hill. The piston blew out of the engine and knocked the doors open. The engineer said it was a big wall of fire that initially shot out. Here's the link for a pic of it.
