The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

I'll keep my helmet in my room, but the rest will go in the garage

Do you mean going to the grocery store?

I knew we shouldn't have, but neither of our guys or I brought boots to walk into the store

I don't plan to wear them.

I plan to place them in a case in my room :)

Hey Everyone...  ok, gotta read to catch up...

But what strikes me most instantly - Sarah, your gear has "hazardous chemicals, etc" on it - try not to wear it around people - or even lay it around inside your home - since your gear has contaminants on it - many many many of them are carcinogenic.... as in cancer causing...  so your dept should have told you - try not to "hang out" in your gear when you are not using it for emergency protection...

5 fires in less than 24 hours?

Also went to a house fire on Friday, pretty nasty.

Yep!

Had a work detail, then we FINALLY got some calls, so many it was unbelievable!

( I also got some stuff from our little cleaning, an old Junior's helmet, an old blue coat from back when we had an ambulance, old style face mask and an old air pack w/o the cylinder)

I lived in the utility for most of the day, Bought a bottle of tea and a bag of chips from the gas station (There was NO coffee, deli or any good stuff, they had no water) Sat on the tanker and we got the phone call (Non priority calls went through via phone) for a tree down, threw my coat and helmet and "Lunch: into the utility and we drove off.

Went to a grocery store in my bunker pants. Quite a sight apparently.

Then Went out with a chimney fire, (Turned out the be a gas company burning excess fuel) then someone sent us just a few blocks for a basement fire (We were in our township)

Jim, never too old for.this stuff!!!

Spent the weekend chasing trees on wires, pole fires, transformer explosions, a big natural gas leak with the gas cloud heading to the street with a transformer fire!! Had a generator fire yesterday morning and than chasing wires down calls.

No power at my house and very chilly sleeping!! Been told it could be up to.a week due to the amount of impassable roads

It was a good weekend for the most part.  Spent a lot of it taking neighbors to the doctors or urgent care.  Oh and I have the beginnings of a beautiful head cold....

It was nice though.
