This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Torrents of ra*n here and out my window I can see the sn*w falling on the local mtns 40 minute drive from me...
For those of you feeling the chill... a little memory of just a few short months ago when we were so over the heat...
SOOOO HOT>>> THE POEM>>>
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot wat*r now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 35 C and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 am.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper. and of course sour cream, diced onions and a few serving spoons of chile.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ic* to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
So ENJOY THE CHILLY WEATHER !!!!
oh yeah - best part was a vehicle accident - do tell - how many vehicles, what type of vehicles, weather conditions, reason for accident, injuries, ems actions, fire approach & WHY?
comeone my brother from another mother - tell us - since it was THE BEST PART !!!
Ernie is correct... and closer to getting the job done... (is it really MY need, or a generalized expectation towards new FFs ???)
I am suspecting that age (and particular department's culture) is impacting the grasp on "important details" and "significant points of growth" and "on-scene education from every call"
Kyle - by far the most important piece of information for me is still "structure fire with entrapment" ... and "no one is dead" ... but no one explained HOW that happened yet
...also... since the 5" was not charged... apparently this fire needed NO water??? or was ANY OTHER approach used???
Kyle I KNOW you are SUPER CRAZY SMART - so I have HIGH expectations for you ;-) Feed me more more more :)
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE !!! Eating eggs & hashbrowns & watching Joel Osteen church on tv... LOL... from my sofa... and chatting with you fine people...
Morning everyone!! Have coffee on for those that happen to swing through!
Kyle, I am pretty sure you have quite a ways to go to fill Heather's need for information...hehehe!!
Have a good one and Stay Safe!
ok Kyle - a LITTLE better - but I am a fire-junkie - I NEED MORE - you MUST FEED MY NEED....
plus I expect you to be learning something - LOTS OF THINGS - and then telling me about them ;-)
haven't you heard a blow-by-blow scene report - well I want that PLUS your PERSONAL learning... just sayin... beef it UP ^
I am sorry this is so scary Jim. Yes both of my parents are sick and have major illnesses and have had rough years this year - and it sucks.
Yes, no one gets out of life alive... We have spent a lot of time over the past few years helping my parents put their affairs in order - and keeping them in order - to help them have peace of mind and closure on some open-ended issues.
My one uncle (favorite) died year-ish back from rapid onset cancer - and I was not able to see him between his diagnosis and death - but I was able to call him and have a closure conversation appreciating his life and influence upon me. We both knew it probably would be our last conversation together.
I also believe in life-after-death, specifically I believe in heaven - so that helps me when I think of all those that I have lost, since I have the hope of seeing them again. And I believe that life on Earth is temporary... so that helps me some. I have lost ALOT of people that I love... so I feel your pain.
Please know I am always here if you want to talk. And here is my private email if that would be a better place to talk: browhe@yahoo.com
Jim - yes soda is evil - thanks for your suggestion to dilute it with alcohol.... my luck... I would just become an alcoholic if I took that route... since I come from a long line of alcoholics...
so I don't EVER drink alcohol...
thus the soda addiction...
once I made it back on the wagon - I have made it another week on the wagon - but dang - I was white knuckling it for a few days this week : (
How you doing Jim?
Kyle thanks for the link - BUT - I really want YOUR STORY - not some else's story...
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO SPILL YOUR GUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim sorry to hear the worry about your pops. I will pray that he makes it through this. Chris makes excellent points - modern medicine is amazing. I am sure he will pull through this with the rehab nurses monitoring him. He is so lucky to have you, even if you have to step away for a bit for FD.
Kyle "WITH ENTRAPMENT" DUDE.... you can't wander through and say that WITHOUT saying WHAT HAPPENED??? Is everyone OK? And you know darn well I want ALL the details of what happened as well for the entire call, what did you do, what approach was taken, what did you learn, what would you do differently, etc. etc. etc... You know the regular list of questions that I have for you...
