We do the same for recruit school but it is called "officer of the day". It is to demonstrate responsibility for the entire class though. Not just individual companies. Things like making sure you have PAR when there are breaks, lunches, start and end of day, turning in homework, assisting the instructor with anything he needs done, etc. Slackers are part of the fire service, so don't let it bother you personally. It is how you deal with slackers that make the FF. Peer pressure leadership will intervene as long as the class is not afraid to press the female slacker to step it up. I caught the atheletic bra comment... .

What the hell? Getting out of class DUE TO WEATHER !!! Not in my class - the response was - "what the heck, so you think the FD gets to take a snow day / rain day / ice day / sick day, now suit up and get your asses outside !!!"

And Baily in my class of 40 MEN and ME - 1 FEMALE - only 28 men completed the training and passed AND ME !!! So those wannabees will get weeded out soon...

Joyce was that you in the low flying 747 which came over my house this morning - I was wondering what the hell ? Now I know it was just you ... trying to stay below the radar... though perhaps a note to self - we have mountains around us - so stay alert...
