The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

I stopped using my real name since people feel the need to "personally attack" people online... so I like the nickname...

and I change my name A LOT... and people figure out who I am :)

so one day you could be J.V.  and one day J.G.  and one day not so jollie volliee....   you get the point...

Good Morning Everyone !!!

Good to see you are feeling better Kevin !!!   Glad that iced down nether regions gave you your goove thing back !!!

Ernie - how ya been ???  I've missed our chats !!!  How are you feeling about these hoops you have been jumping - are you loving it - or are you feeling underwater - or both ;-)   I am so excited to hear about your excitement. It is so great to hear the next generation of firefighters coming up through the ranks of knowledge and skill : )

I have soooo much homework to do and my give-a-damn has a serious blockage in its fuel injection system... thus it seems like a daunting burden...

I have been taking care of a colony of homeless kitties... on my university campus... I successfully made them a few rubbermade tote insulated outdoor shelters... and I got my current group stabilized (down) to 10 kitties... but then I saw one homeless kitty impregnating another  >:-(  frustrating nature... I am trying to reduce (stabilize) the #, not help them breed...  but it is tough to catch them and get them all spayed or neutered as fast as I can...

I heard that one large colony lives on Harvard campus and one on Yale campus and many other university around the country. The university in Anaheim, CA says it has taken them 10 years to catch their couple hundred homeless kitties and get them all medical treatment, fixed, and released back to their colony.

Interestingly I just found out that DisneyLand has more than 200 homeless kitties that live in Disney Land and which have taken up permanent residence there. Disney has a specific staff which catches them and gets them fixed to reduce multiplication  and gets them their vet shots... then has 5 fixed feeding stations to make sure every kitty has enough food around cleaning up the rodent population at Disney Land.... fascinating...  win win :)

Morning everyone!!

Hey, Kevin!!!  How have you been?

Comment by Fabulous Heather Days of Summer on December 4, 2011 at 12:19am

hmmm... interesting...

I am beginning to think that lots of technology in life is actually detrimental to the well-being of society. This sounds like yet another one of those "we came up with a better system... and oh by the way... it will speed of the rate that we die"

Well, I have to get my tired tail to bed... Nice to chat with you. Glad you had a great day. Good to hear your thoughts.

Kevin if you are still up and out there - hope you are feeling better - swing on in (to the spanking line) cause you know you missed me :)

and what would those better options be?

Comment by Fabulous Heather Days of Summer on December 3, 2011 at 11:00pm

interesting...

so is there a general concensus about moving in a better direction yet?

... Hi Kevin - how the heck are ya big boy???

Yes U.S. firefighters do seem to believe that they are quite invincible and we get better at distancing ourselves from the really obvious dangers of firefighting, and then the hidden dangers wreck havoc... good to be highlighting the hidden dangers... and uncovering causes...
