My dream is to work with a paid company, but if I can't reach that, I'm fine being a vollie.

Started Paramedic class on Wed. After two days of drug calculations and ethics and legal discussion, I'm ready for more than just a drink. Makes this old man's head spin. Not going to let the young people see my weakness, however. Should be better from here on out, though I am questioning why I quit a great job in IT to spray water and pump and blow.

Eric for those who whine about paid vs. volunteer service - you ask them to CUT A CHECK and you will gladly accept it for everyone on your department to BE PAID for YOUR WORK !!!

Under the rule - put up or shut up... So either they better come up with the cash - or get their city to come up with the cash - or STFU !!!

This discussion about a recent 3 alarm fire in my area really burns my biscuits , why do people have to think that it would be so much better if there was a paid staff on duty they would have responded quicker , and saved more than the foundation ect..... grrrr ignorant people such as the one person posting on there makes my blood boil , i have nothing against paid depts i have a ton of friends who run paid , but why do people think that vollies are just hillbillies and rednecks throwing on gear and playing with hoses , we all know we are trained professionals and we also have to go through the same amount of training if not more than some of the paid depts do Grrrr sorry just venting a little , makes me wanna yeah *bites tounge*
