Chief you are nuts....

Heather I am generally first to arrive when toned out. From arrival I have the vehicles warmed up, map book is open to location, the guys gear is ready for them to put on, radios are on and we are ready to roll by the time the other two show up.

Everything is cool... The hubs was irritated, but I would rather put up with a couple days of this than to deal with the neighbors bedroom window 10 feet away....

Sarah - sister - when you get old - and you miss a call - you lament less... hee hee... There will be a thousand more fires... or more... and 10,000 more accidents... and 20,000 more HUGE CALLS... so never fear you will have plenty of time later - your primary job now is to get educated... and grow strong - physically, emotionally, and mentally...

just listening to your pager and the chatter can be educational - so pay attention even if you can not be on scene...

and remember while speed is important - being totally ready and SAFE is more important - so don't forget gear parts... such as only 3 times did I not take the time to properly complete the neck wrapping on my gear - 2 times getting my neck frost bit and once toasted to a rosy red sun burn color from the external heat around the building... so get dressed properly FIRST...

and as a girl - since ya never know if you will make it home in the next 20 hours - I personally PEE commonly before I leave my house - yes, after the tone - helps you stay focused on scene AND always properly pull up your long hair AND take off ALL your metal jewelry (and underwire bra... and nipple ring... uhm, I mean... belly ring...).

this is a marathon... not a sprint... the tortoise wins the race... not the rabbit...

p.s. some even cheer when they miss a call... hee hee
