The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

I needed to bring some closure to today... Clearly I am passionate... as many of you are. I appreciate all of you stepping in and giving support to my particular stated mission today. I spent the better part of the last 24 hours offline addressing this very real and very scary matter. I do have to say that the situation from today is way more serious, way more complicated, and way more fragile than words in this venue can express. And I do not say that lightly. It is a process... steps are being taken...

I also want to say I understand why FFN did not want this debated in the public forum, where people such as others personally involved and associated to this situation and others who are cruel can create an open attack. Since they were aware that I had already shifted the conversation off the main page, they knew the situation was being addressed - any air of blame was not to be permitted. It is a fine line to walk - to protect or observe. All of our natural instincts were to protect, now that they have given me some explanation, I better understand how they chose to protect as well.

Prayers are needed for the entire situation for courage, especially in the FD leadership to stand up and rally around those who have already demonstrated great bravery in bringing light to this matter. Nothing is more heart-breaking than being betrayed by a brother and nothing is harder than cutting-off a brother.

Are the officers and chiefs required to report to the PD crimes that they know are being committed in their depts?

Hey Kevin & Chris?

Hey welcome Al & Robin... Jump on in and tell us about yourselves. We love pictures of your world too.

Al not sure if you caught what we have been talking about today - but do you have any written FD guidelines about FFs reporting crimes - small or large - they they know are being committed by other FFs. Do you have any of the written bylaws? Are FFs required (commissioned) to report crimes their colleagues commit?
