My partner and I both belong to the same dept. and even tho sometimes it does cause problems (mostly between she and I) my dept. family never treats me any different. They are very redneck and some are very racist and discriminative but they all treat she and I like we are family no matter what. This is you family and you should never have to feel ashamed or scared of what you are!

I am a brand new EMT-B going for Paramedic, and looking to join a department soon. Anyone have any suggestions on the whole gay thing? is it accepted in the service or should i just keep it to myself?

I would like to know how other on here have been treated by there fellow firefighting, Ems Brothers and Sisters when you came out to them. I am Gay and have had my good and bad times dealing with this.

Hey my name is Barb and I am new here. I am an EMT Basic and getting reqady to go back to school for either Paramedic or EMT intermediate.I am a volunteer with West Lexington FD and I work for a non profit Ambulance service as well. I have just kinda got outed at work and just wanted to connect with others like me.

Hmmm. Not too sure about the add. I am kinda gay. I prefer hetero-flexible as a term... because I like men and women... just prefer guys.

Hi Eric here so glad I found this site I am glad to say one of the two fire depts. I am with is very supportive of me and my partner we go to all the department functions and have a blast . If somone says somthing is "gay" I have no problem piping up and saying " I will be the judge of that" LOL

i need your help, one of my friends wrote a book called coming out from behind the badge and its about police officers coming out that they are gay and working on the job and the fears that they face. Me and his dad have given him the idea of writing a 2nd edition and a new book about fire fighters and emt's coming out that they are gay. this is where we need your help we are looking for gay,lesbian,and bi sexual firemen and emts and police officers who are out of the closet or still in the closet . WE WANT TO HEAR UR STORY to put it in the book .
