My fire company, The Fairmount Fire Company in Long Valley, NJ, will be supporting the Susan G Koman fund on November 14th by wearing and selling Fairmount Fire t shirts in pink. We're trying to raise awareness in our community and support this important effort. We're a little behind and tried for October, but missed the window. We're hoping to make this a yearly event. It has been said before but I'll say it again, THANK YOU! for starting this group. I am 6+ yrs cancer FREE! I was only 25 yrs young when I was diagnosed & I was lucky mine was caught early. I pray everyday for those still fighting & those that have lost their fight. Thanks again! My pink pic for the discussion will be posted soon. .

Thanks for starting the group Mike. My wife is a cancer survivor and I lost 3 of my 4 grandparents to the disease. I'm trying to put together a department relay for life team. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Our department is in, we have been wearing them all week. This is our Engine One crew. Remember all the Brothers that have died from job related cancer, literaly thousands of them, I will add one name Fire Equipment Operatot Jade Holcomb, much loved and missed by all that knew him!

My father, a firefighter died from it. His mother and father and also his brother. My mothers mother and my mother in law and her mother. Countless firefighters both in my generation and in my auld mans. Many friends and acquaintances along the way have succumbed to it and a lot have beaten it. It is modern days plague.
Thanks Mike for highlighting it here.
Remembering all who have died from cancer,
Saluting those who continue to battle it,
Applauding those who try to find a cure for it.

This doesnt seem to be a subject we can just ignore !! seems like everyone knows someone with one form of cancer or another and the longer I am in the fire fighting service the more of the fire fighters that have been in the service for a while seem to have been getting diagnosed with forms of cancer as well !!

Mike, Much appreciate the invite. Lost my wife to cancer a while back. Just visited with the Pink Heals crew when they were in Sarasota a couple of weeks back. Signed the Carolyn truck with her name. We had quite a party with them. I wear one of the three t- shirts each Friday. Our local dept wears their pink shirts every Friday as well. Makes the local paper each time.
