Turkey hunting in Wisconsin, first day a nice the tom came within 15 yards then turned and left. Today we had 3 toms struttin' at about 64 yards but they left with the hens. Two jakes came our way and one got an arrow at 38 yards. First one with the bow and it is all on film. I was behind the camera. I get my turn next week. I am pumped after getting that one on film. Almost as exciting as shooting it yourself.

as you can tell by my lack of a reply, nothing happened during the rest of the season. As the season wore down to the final days, seeing anything that moved in the woods (and not wearing oragne) would have been a treat.

Wow! 9 days of sitting with the ol smoke pole and I at least seen 3. The first two where about 300 yards out in the brush and the third came in at dark and I couldn't see my sights let alone what it was. But then we had the late doe season and me and the kid went out to get a christmas tree. Well I figured I better take the rifle along, good thing I did. Walking through the pines looking for a tree and seen two get up out of their beds. They stood and looked at us just long enough for me to manage to put one in the freezer.

Well what can I say, 9 days, 14 hunters and a total of 3 deer? Looks like I'll be taking the ol smoke pole out to see if the next 10 days pan out any better. According to early numbers the state registration is down 22% and the northern half where I'm at is down 36%. Sadly, knowing everyone else is having as much luck as I am is not comforting.
