I'm all about hunting anything on 4 legs from east to west coast:)

Mainly Deer, and I'm an avid bow hunter:)

Is there anyone that hunt in North Central Kansas? Maybe we could meet sometime?

The way I understand the concept of bear hunting, they have a very keen sense of smell and excellant hearing so some good cover scent and make sure you don't move around when they are close! BE SAFE THEY CAN CLIMB TREES so get you some pepper spray or something to defend yourself in case they want to climb in your lap. My passion is hunting Pheasants, Quail, Dove and Deer Hunting! How about you?

Sorry for the lack of updates on the saltwater scene lately, work has been insane. This past Saturday the water had some pretty good chop with a steady rip current. (from Bertha off Bermuda and the new Tropical wave off South Carolina) The fish were there for a change and fishing was a lot more fun. No monster fish yet but just a matter of time. A 70 pound Striped Bass was caught just off of Block Island so they are around. :)

Love the outdoors, even if i don't get anything, just being in the outdoors is great.

For a first time hunter you are better off spending the few days and taking a hunters safety class. YES it will be full of younger kids just starting, but you will also be educated on the laws, the safety and (I hope) a shooting course. I started hunting by purchasing a shotgun and a orange vest. I memorized the states laws in the booklet, bought the tags and started on small game, then advanced to deer. There is nothing to it. I spent a few days (and shot what seemed like a zillion shells) on the range. Shooting will build proficiency and it is what prevents foolish injuries and also prevents wounding of animals.

Walter who ever told you that has more money then they have sense, you need to find a gun & scope( if you are shootin longer distances) that suits you the best & that you are comfortable with. Mite be a shotgun with slugs, or even buckshot ( if its legal in your state) , you dont need fancy gear to hunt, been huntin since I was 9 yrs lod & never had high dollar equipment. But you have to do you homework so to speek, study up on habits and that sort of stuff. Then do you scoutin bout a month before season open until bout a week before, then go get um!! Be sure to know your states laws on baitin & legal means of takin a deer. You can get hunting regs just bout anywhere that deals with sporting goods. GOOD LUCK & hope you have fun & get a trophy.

If you arent into eatin deer meat then look into sportsman against hunger to donate you meat to the hungry.
