I'm new to this site. I thought someone might be interested in this little tale. When EMERGENCY started I was just starting as an Explorer and made my friends wait until the show was over before we left for the Saturday night dance, party or other activities. I don't think I missed an episode.

Fast forward to the late 1980's and I had the privilege to work for Chief J.O. Page, (Creator of JEMS, Fire Rescue Magazines), then at Monterey Park Fire Department in the San Gabriel Valley of LA County. Incidentally, Chief Page started at Monterey Park FD having grown up there, and went on to LA County. We spoke about EMERGENCY occaisionally and one day I was delighted when he handed to me a copy of his script copy of FUZZ LADY. As I turned the pages I burst at laughing at a correction he had made. The authors had used the line "You're going to feel a little prick" at the initiation of an IV. Page wrote;"Delete for obvious reasons" and the line was changed to read "You're going to feel a little stinging sensation". Chief Page honored me with the gift of the script.

Later while on a annual High Sierra Back packing trip to Yosemite I stopped by to see Engine 51 at then the Curry Companies Engine 7. The people who let us look at the Engine had no idea of the history as it were. So I sent them, the Park Service historian and local historian Shirley Sargent, the story from Chief Pages books.

As we used the LA County "Fire Combat Training Center" on our cities west border, I had the opportunity to sit in Squad 51 then in Museum storage.

I suppose that a Battalion Chief getting all interested in this stuff was a surprise to some, but the continuing impact, accuracy and entertainment provided by this program has been part of my own history. Enjoy.

Hi Lt.Shane
Unfortunately, HULU.com only works for the residence of the US.
I'm from Canada and it wont work for me.
I'm a big fan of Emergency...I've watched it when i was a kid and always enjoyed it.
One thing i have been trying to get is the shoulder patch from the show so that i can add it to my collected patches that i have.
I do collect Police Fire and EMS patches .... its a hobby of mine.

Did you ever notice how they would drive in the show? Hard turns and their speed was nuts. Even arriving on scene, you would hear their tires screech.

IT's EMERGENCY DAY ! Thats right here in Ambrose Pa. at my house right now and its funnier than all get out. My kids and their friends have pulled out all the episodes of emergency except for season 5 which I haven't purchased yet. But anyhow their all volunteer firefighters and what started as 3 of them in the living room watching the tube theres now at last count 15 of them and they just can't believe the old equip. and Emergency care techniques we used back then, its a hoot listening too them.
