Good morning! How are we faithing? Psalm 103 tells us that our sins are removed as far as east is from west so why don't we forgive ourselves? Are we different than any other person that the Word says is saved when they believe? We can forgive others when they wrong us but hold ourselves to a higher standard? What is that? Our hope is in Jesus and he said we are forgiven so why do we have trouble forgiving ourselves? "Oh, you don't know what I've done", no I don't, but God does. He set this up before you were born, before you sinned, and forgives what you've done and what you will do in the future. Give your self a break here. You not forgiving yourself is the exact same thing as not forgiving others. That is a sin itself. Look here and take these to heart;

103:11-12
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
NAS

Acts 3:19-20
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you-even Jesus.
NIV

Rom 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
NAS

John 8:36
"If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
NAS

Well now, would you look at that! ALL are forgive when the gift of salvation is accepted. Hum, even you! So stop whooping yourself and afford that same forgiveness you give to others to come to you, Jesus already has.

Remember Sammy and Kellynn's Papaw...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the gift you gave. Thank you for caring and loving a lot like us so much you saved us. Lord we ask for the courage and the wisdom to fathom this gift and help us forgive ourselves. Lord be with the Hockensmith family. Lord we lift your name higher than anything else in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? How do you see yourself in the body of Christ? What do you see as your place in the church of Jesus? Are you just saved and dormant or are you seeking his will in all you do? Finding your niche as it were in the church can be baffling and it also can be a tightrope walk when you do. What this means is that we seek out the direction Jesus has for us as he equips us with certain talents and passions. We discover these talents and passions through the Word and the inspiration the Holy Spirit grants. The body of Christ, the church family, is very diverse. I can read and convey ideas but I am not a pulpit preacher. Does that make me more or less than the person standing in the pulpit? Nope, I encourage, I explain things. Where are you strengths and passion? How do you you them for the kingdom? Your place is where God wants you to be. Now seek that place. Look here;

Cor 12:4-11
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
NIV

Eph 4:7-13
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says:
"When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."
(What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
NIV

Do you see that? Do you get that YOU are valuable and important to the body? You have a place, a job, a niche that God has prepared for you. Desire what God wants for you because in that place you will be successful. The spiritual gift you have received at salvation is necessary for the body to be whole. That gift from God is so awesome!

James 1:16-18
Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
NIV

Remember Andy Allan, sick again...Richard Perez, his mom passed...Corey Allen who is Richards best friend since 1st grade and is grieving his "other mom"...Clancey Brazier, missing his Dad...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the gifts you give. Lord, reveal to all of us where we need to be in your church. Lord help us desire the gifts that you want us to have. Lord grant us the wisdom to see the gift and realize we are important to you. Lord we lift those hurting today and ask you touch them in a way that they know it was you and no possible way it is anything but you. Lord forgive us when we fail and grant us the courage to stand for you, in Jesus name amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? The dynamics of personalities is interesting. It also can be taxing. I see the same people in different packages at every fire house I go to. The inner workings of personalities and their search for a foothold in time and space is thrilling and exasperating all at once. You all understand this line of thought because you all deal with the same people day to day. Being older and already been through life this far we want to share with the younger ones our sufferings and mistakes and yet they sometimes look at us like we have 2 heads or something huge stuck to our face. Know what? We did that too. Patience comes into play when learning. Children make mistakes and we need that same kind of patience with adults too. Look at the questions posed to Jesus. "How often do I forgive"? Why would a question like that be asked? Because of trespasses performed against the person who asked the question were still fresh in that mind would be my bet. That person was still harboring resentment towards someone for something that happened and he wanted to know what to do. Jesus tells us to forgive quickly and always. God forgave us right? Does he ever say no to forgiving? If he does then we are in deep doo doo. It isn't easy at times but the liberation that comes with quick and real forgiveness is beyond description. I don't mean lip service but really forgiving. Those different personalities we encounter in our days deserve the same forgiveness we got from God, right?

Matt 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
NIV

Prov 19:11
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
KJV

Prov 20:33
It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
NIV

Prov 25:21-22
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
NIV

Look here, Jesus quoting the scripture above;

Rom 12:19-20
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
NIV

Cool huh?

Remember Paulo Amargo...Annie Sheperd...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your blessings on us. Lord help us be quick to let go of transgressions like you do. Lord we lift Paulo and Annie and ask a touch from you. Lord forgive us our sins and help us do the same. Lord guide our paths today and help us see you in all we do, in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? A pile of things going on in the world and if we ain't careful we can get depressed. I think of the things my parents endured. I think of the things my in-laws endured. The things my friend endure. The victims of all sorts of things and the endurance they had to muster or die. Wouldn't you like to think you would come out the other side of things you see happening? Wouldn't you like for those things to pass you by? Of course you would but the reality is things do come our way and the strength needed to overcome is sometimes not there. Where do we get that strength? First it's from God. Your personal strength is a result of learning, past mountains you climbed and the grace of God. He knows you and knew you before you encountered whatever you have encountered and what lies ahead. He already has and is equipping you for whatever comes your way. He formed you the way you are. He knew you before you were in the womb and as he knitted you in that womb already knew what was ahead. Instead of gripping about our lot in life or wishing for a different life it is more prudent that we seek God with what we have and go forward knowing he walks with us and that lot has a purpose. I know, some of you are really in the thick of it but we need to remember some things;

Rom 8:9-17
You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation-but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
NIV

With this in mind we see that salvation means Jesus is in us and we can take joy even in miserable circumstances that it is all temporal. With that being said, we also are in this flesh and do suffer and we can seek help from the Father because of the son. I chastise friends that don't tell me when they hurt both physical and mental because of love I want the opportunity to pray for them. No pity, no judgement, but the privilege to offer up my friend to my master and know he will help that friend like he helps me so stop trying to be an island and trying to be pius and not bothering each other with burdens...it ain't a bother...it's a privilege to pray for others!

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for allowing us to lift each other to you. Lord we ask for wisdom. Lord let us know you care. Lord we lift those in pain in body and in spirit to you. Hold them and shop them you care. Lord open the eyes of our hearts to needs that we encounter. Lord guide our paths and make it known the direction you have for us, in Jesus name Amen!

Good morning! How are we faithing this beautiful day? It is strange the attitudes we encounter about being a believer in Jesus. I've heard,"what makes you so special?" and "you ain't any better than me!" or "I don't need help, I'll do it my way. I'm fine." Well, I am special because Jesus loves me. I am better because Jesus has made me better and your way just like mine leads to nothing but heartache. I am special because Jesus gave me salvation and you can have it too! No, I am not any more special than you, I am special to God. I am better than I was because the Word and the Holy Spirit teaches me how to live. I am better as a person because I know I am loved and when you know you are loved it enables you to love back. Never is any of this Christianity a comparison of me to you or visa versa. Yes, some point fingers and belittle but that is not the way to share truth. We are told to speak in love. Love does not teach us to point fingers and criticize. Love does not speak harshly at a difference with someone. Love treats as it would be treated. Ask me and I'll tell you what's wrong, do something to an innocent and I'm all over you. Do something that is between you and God, well that's between you and God. If I see you do something that is harmful I will try to open your eyes to it but I should never blast you and beat you down. That solves nothing and creates animosities. Do you see this? Of course siblings and best friends do have more freedoms with chastisement and that is another subject. So how do we live like the descriptions above? How do we not only appear righteous but seek it? Look here for starters;

1 John 1:5-10
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
NIV

3 John 4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
NIV

James 1:16-21
Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Word that reveals the way we should be. Lord we ask for wisdom and strength to stand on that truth and love and to show it no matter how we feel. Lord protect our hearts from the fiery dart that are hurled at us. Protect those who are apart from their loved ones in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! Man o man it's good to up and preparing for another day! As we learn more and more about God's grace and what it means to us we need to be mindful of how we come across to others. Our witness is very important. How we deal with calamity and everyday junk directly shows where our faith is. Our faith is not based on the worlds view of things but on God's view and where truth really lies. If we react as the world does we appear no different. Does that mean we put on the appearance of a believer? Not at all. We put on the armor of our salvation. We don the truth and the assurance that Jesus is the messiah and everything, regardless of how bad, has a purpose and we are looking for that purpose and the strength that grows when we see things in truth. We are gleaning everything God can teach us and as a result we mature in our faith. Graduation from that first inkling of the Gospel message to a person who grows compassion for others and truth found in the Word is a process that requires diligence and fortitude. On our knees we build that strength so we may attract others to find that truth. Do you notice your outlook has changed as you read and think on the Word? That my friends is spiritual maturing that can only come from God. Things that used to enrage us now makes us think and see beyond the action to why the action is happening. Sometimes it is meanness and sometimes it's a cry for help. Telling the difference is what we learn. Our spirits begin to recognise that cry and respond appropriately. Cool huh?

2 Thess 1:3-4
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing. Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
NIV

Prov 4:18-19
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
NIV

Isa 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
NIV

Phil 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.
NIV

1 Peter 1:22-23
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
NIV

Don't forget where you came from and look at how far you have come. Jesus' saving grace abounds in believers and growing in that faith is a good thing! Think about this...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for a healthy new great nephew! Thank you Mom and baby are well. Lord we lift you up in our lives and thank you that you forgive even a wretch like me. Thank you for showing me truths that we can live by in your Word. Help us recognise it's not what we do but what YOU do. We can't earn it for it is a gift and we thank you for it. Lord protect our troops and guide our leaders. Lord come quick to us. in Jesus name, Amen

Great morning! How are we faithing today? Do you try to hide sin? I'm not talking about the ones anyone can see but those sins no one but God and you see. You know what I am talking about. We all do them time to time. Lust for things, lust for someone, bad thoughts about someone, not speaking when you should, ignoring the Holy Spirit that nudges you to act on something, the things that are not visible to anyone. Being quick to repent and to ask forgiveness is a habit that we have to teach ourselves. It's real easy to go off on a tangent thinking things we shouldn't. Dreaming is one thing but lusting leads eventually to action or at a minimum thoughts like"they don't deserve that, I do". We should be thankful for what we are and have and search scripture and pray for any and all improvement. Someone else that has already reached the goal we desire doesn't mean they don't deserve it. Do you follow this? Do you see how lust or incorrect thinking can lead to jealousy which leads to condemnation and then to sin? It's not easy sometimes to reel in thos thoughts especially if you've been stepped on but knowing that our Lord is in control we can train our reactions to be holy and God like by repentence and forgiveness.

Eph 4:17-19
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.
NIV

Eph 5:3-7
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a man is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.
NIV

Gal 5:24-26
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
NIV

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
NIV

Take that step today and start confessing and repenting of these kinds of things.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you that we can repent of sin. Thank you that you forgive us. Lord help us train ourselves to recognise and stop doing these things. Lord lead us where we should go, in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! Middle of the week and we're still here! I know, sometimes you wonder why. We get hurt, we get low, we want to toss it all overboard and go live in the desert alone. Well my friends, you ain't alone. Nope, everybody at some time wants to chuck it all and live on a deserted island. Starting over gets real appealing. So why don't you start over? Why not tighten your boot straps and dig in? Jesus is there, always has been and is waiting for you to come to him. Picture this, you are about to go under and this strong hand snatches you out of the murky deep. Anyone who's ever come close to drowning can picture this. Jesus pulls you out, stands you up, dries you off and walks with you from then on. Comforting vision no? Well it's completely accurate. I was a bumbling boob until I found Jesus. I still make mistakes but my Lord and savior forgives me and props me up while brushing the dirt off. I can say without hesitation that even though I am far from perfect, man you don't know how far, I am redeemed and have the Holy Spirits comfort to make every day a joy. Because of him I can face anything that comes my way, It may suck but every day I seek him, it gets easier. All the things I am weak in, Jesus used them for growing strength. All the things I fail at, he shows me more ways that they have become useful. All the crap I face becomes as nothing and can be dealt with honestly and courageously. Always a walk in the sunshine? Nope but he reveals the light so coming out the other side happens.

1 Cor 1:26-31
Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
NIV

Col 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
NIV

Eph 5:8-14
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
"Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Lord , grant us the wisdom and courage to face every day. Lord, lift our spirits so we stand firm. Lord we ask you protect the kids and our troops. Lord help us all show your mercy in all we do. Lord, thank you for loving us so that you sent your son so we didn't have to atone for our sins because we couldn't. in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? My new shoes are so comfortable! Until I move. Yep, breaking shoes in to our feet sometimes hurts. It's like our faith walk. Pain sometimes comes with gain. When we endure things that are kicking our butts it is very important to focus on what the net result will be otherwise we can fall into the self pity mode. Don't get me wrong here, it's not out of line to ask "why me" when pain erupts but it's also very important to remember that we will glean something from everything. Yep, even a cartoon. We get laughter that science has proven releases endorphins the add to our well being. Who would've ever thought cartoons were healthy. So even when we are at our weakest and all looks dim we can go to the Father if we believe in the son he sent. Even in our weakness, he becomes so strong and he gives us the power and the strength to carry on. Does that mean instant relief? Does that mean we never have pain? Heck no! Physical world with all the physical junk that goes with it. Look at these for confidence that God loves you. His promises stand always.

Mark 11:24-25
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
NIV

Luke 11:9-10
"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
NIV

Rom 12:12-21
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
NIV

John 15:7-8
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
NIV

Look for the lesson. Every malady has a lesson. We learn from every affliction. Maybe not to do something again or maybe an understanding of something and you become able to help others with the same problem. Can't say for sure but God can. Use his Word, seek, ask. Ponder this...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your wisdom and strength. Lord help us understand and ask for these things. Lord we want to not be self centered but alas, we are. Help us see outside of our self and recognize when compassion is needed. Help us learn what we need to so we can be fruitful and pass lessons on. Lord guide us this day, in Jesus name, amen

Great morning!! How are we faithing? Things go on in our lives that can sometimes be quite baffling. We wonder why they happen and even wonder what we have done to deserve things. Sometimes this thinking is proper like when we get a ticket. Did we speed? Did we blow that red light? But sometimes that thinking is not proper and useless thinking like,"God is punishing me". Actions in the physical do have consequences but our God is not in the habit of striking his children for wrongs committed. Sometimes things just happen and sometimes they are a result of like we said earlier, i.e.speeding. Our Father in heaven is a loving God who desires we see truth and follow that truth but alas, we are fallible and stumble quite often. We do have doubts sometimes. We have questions that cannot be answered therefore we start to doubt. Lets not let doubt permeate. Lets ask questions and ponder things but remember we are finite and God is omnipotent. God created and we are the creation. Jesus supplies peace and understanding as we have need. Jesus has been where we have been.

Col 3:15-16
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
NIV

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
KJV

1 Peter 2:9-10
Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
NIV

2 Cor 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your grace. We rebuke satan and his henchmen from our minds.. We stand on the promises of our savior to protect us from hurtful doubt that sometimes comes. Lord we ask we have strength to live as we ought to. Lord we lift Kaleb up to you. Cleanse his spirit, run the evil forces away and guard his mind from them. Lord help us be clear lights that reflect your love and grace, in Jesus name we pray, Amen
