Good morning! How are we faithing? With all the things that we see going on around us it sometimes gets hard to not be jaded. Sometimes we see things and react in the natural rather than with God and the Word in the forefront. Our thinking is tempered with the world only because we live in it but we really need to take captive all thoughts and hold them up to what Jesus taught. There have been times in the past where I wanted to slam someone in the face and they probably deserved it but what would that accomplish? A friend said that last night and she was right on the mark. As believers we are not better or more worthy of Gods love but because of Jesus and us accepting that grace we have access. It is a wonderful thing even when we are getting stepped on. Yes knowing that God loves you and does have your best interest sure makes the day better. Today when you encounter junk that winds you up, try to remember the Word of God and run everything through that filter.

Ps 119:9-16
How can a young man keep his way pure?By keeping it according to Thy word. With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments. Thy word I have treasured in my heart,That I may not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD; Teach me Thy statutes. With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies,As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Thy precepts, And regard Thy ways. I shall delight in Thy statutes;I shall not forget Thy word.
NAS

Alot has transpired on my end this weekend and I'll bet on yours too. As I list my concerns, you write down yours and remember them in prayer. As we pray this morning, you lift those up to the Father so they can find peace and love like we have. If you haven't found it, now is as good a time as ever to ask Jesus to come in to your life and live there. You'll never be sorry.

Remember Ken and Steph...Meagans friend Jerry...Kathie M...Steph,Andrew and their new boy Manny!7lbs 7oz...Kellynn and Ty traveling and Samuel and them as they head out to Vegas this week...Chris coming home...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your grace. Thank you for the love you have for us. Lord, open the eyes of our hearts so we see truth and love that only you provide. Teach us to rely on you for our joy and not the things that are fleeting in this world. Be with all those mentioned and those unspoken, in Jesus name, amen

Good cold morning! BRRRrrrrrr! What do we expect? It is December after all! haha! Anyways, our happiness is dependant on God and it comes from within. "You deserve to be happy" is commonly said. So if that is true, where does that come from? Can someone else provide happiness? Sure but are they the only source of happiness? No way man! Example, from my view, I am extremely happy. I have a job, a wonderful bride, dogs that make me laugh, kids and grand kids that are a huge source of joy, on and on I can go. Those things make me happy and they also can make me sad, can you relate? With that said, when they make me sad, am I no longer happy? Am I no longer joyless? No and no! We can be unhappy with a situation but remain happy. Sometimes piddles on floors, arguments, bills, lack of closeness have an effect on our momentary happiness but if we dwell on them and let those things permeate our thoughts we can loose that deep seated joy that God provided when we came to know him as savior. We've talked about this before. Junk happens in this world and we should not despair because things are not the way we think they should be. The father of lies loves to pull you down to an ineffective role. He would love to destroy you. We cannot allow things and events to drag us down into despair. Pray quick. Ask questions. Seek God in all things. And for heavens sake if you have a problem with someone close, speak in love to reach solutions instead of stewing and deepening the hurt. Repent or in the Greek, "metanoeo" means to change your mind and that is what we need to do. No one can steal our joy unless we let them. We repented from our old ways and by the Word we are forgiven and all is forgotten. God sees us with his son and wants us to grow into the likeness of his son who happened to have 100% confidence in the Father to always be with and in us. Gee whiz, we can get any better joy than that! Read these below and remember your inexpressible joy at meeting the Father when you repented and accepted Christ. Nothing else can defeat that joy unless we focus on the malady instead of the healer.

1 Peter 1:3-9
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
NIV

Heavenly Father,
We ask today Lord that you bring to our minds the joy of your love. Help us not see a mountain but a hill that you have already conquered. Lord we tend to be selfish and cry "woe is me" and we are sorry for that. We know that you have us in your hands and we keep jumping out. We repent of that and ask for your grip on us to be tighter for we know you have the only answers. Lord, we love and honor you and ask for that joy we had in the beginning to be present all the time. Grant us wisdom in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? I am privileged to be exposed to good teachings of the Word. I am privileged to be able to pray for close friends and family and also people I don't know. I am privileged to know that many are praying about the same things and that is comforting. I am privileged to have a savior who gives a hoot about me...and you. This is not a burdensome faith at all. This is a faith of true love and devotion to someone who knows exactly what we need individually. This is a belief system that is the only true one out there. The only flaws I see are when man interjects their own twists. Dogmatic ideas that come out of a desire for control of the people involved makes for some regulatory things that have nothing to do with salvation. Last night at prayer meeting I heard someone pray from their heart. They prayed for people and things they were not a part of other than they carried compassion for those people. It is a wonderful privilege we have that we can go to God and speak of the things on our hearts. He already is aware of all things but it is a very good exercise and we are compelled to do it because it is what makes this a personal relationship. Pray today like you believe he will answer. Pray today like you know it's already taken care of. Pray today like a loving child talks to his Father. Pray with all those things and believe HIS best is what will take place.

Rom 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
NIV

Acts 17:25-26
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
NIV

Remember Dave Morano...remember those who are searching for truth...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving us so much that you sent your son to redeem us. Help us understand and know the unfailing compassion you have for us. Lord we lift those hurting emotionally and physically. Reveal truths that set all free. Show us your ways and make it so obvious we can't miss them. Lord we lift up all those on each of our heart today. Gather us to you so we can share that love and light with the lost. Thank you for friends that care, in Jesus name, Amen!

Great cold morning! How are we faithing? We as believers under grace need to stop pointing fingers, criticizing others, and living like we don't sin. I hear gay bashing, bad talk about people who smell bad, criticism about bar patrons and all the time they forget that they are sinners too. Granted, some sins may be more offensive than others but we've talked before about hating the sin and not the sinners. We as believers are sinning when we bash other sinners. Of course the consequences for sins committed in this world do deserve justice but we as believers must pray for the sinner and rebuke the sin. People seem to get offended at speech, nativity scenes, Christmas trees etc. and I for one am tired of it. We Christians are guilty of the same transgression of offense. How can one expect another to act like a Christian when they are not? Do you think correcting speech will lead them to God? We need to grow tougher skin and see the person under the persona and live by example with grace and love thus letting God show them there wayward ways. We must be more concerned with the persons eternal soul rather than the outward appearance. God'll take care of that stuff, out job is to show compassion and reveal truth from scripture and not condemn them with that Bible. If we are publicly standing for a principle, fine but remember there is a soul under the behavior. The apostle Paul did some really horrible things but when he met Jesus, those things changed and no other Christian pointing those sins out led him home. Protect the innocent of course, live by true example of Christ's grace and love. Be concerned about Jesus and don't get caught up in seemingly righteous indignation if it is for itself and not for revealing God's love.

Luke 10:30-37

In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'
"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
NIV

This is our mission. This is what we are to do. We must stand for truth. We must love like we are loved by God. We must love the sinner and hate the sin and we need to see with Jesus' eyes and begin that way today. Stop pointing fingers and show Jesus.

Remember Mike Foushe and his family...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your grace and love that saved someone as nasty as me. Lord we ask for your wisdom to see truth and to see into the person. Lord we are persuaded by outward appearance and we ask for strength to get past that. Lord open our eyes to truth. Open our hearts to the compassion you give. Fill our mouths with truth and love and help us love unconditionally without judging. We lift up Mike and his family...heal and comfort them in this tragedy, in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? Sorry I missed yesterday...work...In John 17 Jesus is recorded as praying for the disciples and for the rest of humanity. Jesus at that time knew his time was at hand or his time was short on earth, however or what ever angle you view this scene. Jesus acknowledged that his time was at hand. Jesus knew that shortly he was to take on sin in it's entirety for everyone. The awesomeness of that is very hard to fathom. The law was implemented so people knew what sin was and if you know what sin is, you can repent. If you don't know what sin is sin, why would you ever repent or even think to repent? These "modern" times where prevailing thinking is to do whatever as long as it doesn't hurt someone else leads one in the opposite direction from God and is not "modern" at all. If nothing is wrong, sin doesn't exist, therefore, no one would come to the Lord for repentance and apologize and guess what....that ploy of the enemy works. Look around and listen. This subject in this context just spoken of is addressed in Romans 5. That is the crux of repentance. Admitting you ain't righteous, admitting you can't fix yourself to righteousness and recognising that by one mans sin, Adams, all men became guilty and by one mans sacrifice,Jesus, we come under grace. So huge and theologically complex and at the same time, simple. Repent, accept, believe. Look at this example of recognising ones sin and what all involved did...

John 8:1-11
But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. And the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the midst, they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. "Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?" And they were saying this, testing Him, in order that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And when they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst. And straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more."

Heavenly Father,
Lord we lift you up and praise your holy name. Thank you for revealing your truths in your Word. Lord grant us peace and un stressful days so we may live for you. Calm us when we worry and take on things. Reveal truth of things and break them down to the simplest form so we can see what really is happening. We ask for peace and a touch on the people mentioned. Lord we seek you daily but get distracted by the world. Help us maintain focus so the world doesn't horn in on our peace you have given. Lord help us seek you and apply the truth we find, in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? Speaking on the subject we've been talking about the last few days it occurs to me that whenever the media or the cultural things of our time are set high in importance, we make idols of the darnedest thing. I remember in the 70's people were flat ate up with the ERA movement. That became all consuming and thusly an idol of sorts. I was so into hot rods at one time that nothing else mattered. I ate, slept and all my thoughts were on them. That is an idol. So what becomes an idol in your life? Football? Nascar? Music? Job? Anything can if we are not careful of the position we put those things in. There's nothing wrong with being passionate about those things but to the extent and to which or what sacrifice is made for them determines the height or priority they have in our lives. The beauty of the Lord is he made us with these skills and desires to achieve but in reverence we need to remember that by design and not of our will, he is to be honored and glorified for those things. Can we rely on those previous things to save us? Do those things give us breath of life? Of course not so don't believe the hype! All things on this earth are fleeting, God is not. Think about this and check to see if you have fallen into the trap the media, culture or anything else has used to replace God as number one.

Hab 2:18-20
"Of what value is an idol, since a man has carved it? Or an image that teaches lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak. Woe to him who says to wood, 'Come to life!' Or to lifeless stone, 'Wake up!' Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it. But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him."
NIV

Ps 3:7
Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God!
NIV

Remember Ben Reed, surgery today...remember JR as he sees his doc today...

Heavenly Father,
Thank your for your grace and love that puts up with the likes of us. Lord, help us see where we create idols and help us put in the proper place all our daily things. Help us rely on your strength and wisdom and give us such a desire to know you. Open up the scriptures to us. Lord we lift those in need today. Touch them and heal them and let the recipients know it was you. Lord, touch Ben and JR, calm Diane and Doug.
In Jesus' name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? Our programing is indeed cultural, timely and regional. Don't think so? In Maine, there has to be a foot or more of snow before it becomes bothersome. In Alabama that would cripple the whole state. In 1850 cars were not around so the care and feeding of our horses was important and the very thought of traveling great distances for Thanksgiving wasn't even thought of. Wearing little clothing in Miami is normal due to the heat but walk around in Minnesota like that and everyone would notice. Point is where is your gauge? What is perceived as wrong or acceptable in the world varies. Not so with the Word of God. It is timeless and steadfast. It does not change with the times. Humans are the same today as in the beginning, just the stuff we do things with changes. There are some things occasionally I run across in the Word that due to culture and my upbringing makes me question motives and point the scripture is trying to make. Like wives submitting to the husbands. People get butt hurt in a hurry on that one. What is missed is the verses after that tell the husband how to behave towards their wives. If the whole council of God is payed attention the submitting doesn't become slavery or subservient, it becomes love and a marriage designed so the buck stops at the husband for he is the one that is ultimately responsible for the welfare of the family. The Word also tells those husbands to love their wives and if you love someone truly, lording anything over them isn't even palatable. I find it so interesting that the recent culture is so enamored with self and self is selfish. Where is the line drawn for behavior? Apparently for some there isn't a line hence we see what we see on the news as of late. All I want you to see, like yesterdays discussion is make sure your conscience has a firm platform to alert you to things that will harm you today or down the road and we need the Word if we expect to cultivate an conscience that will work for us and not against us. Chew on that awhile...

Titus 2:1-15
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
NIV

Remember Tom Ferguson...remember Lisa Madsen...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Word that teaches us how to behave and how to live. Lord we ask for a conscience that is in tune with your way. Open the Word up to us and give us a strong desire to take in all you have for us. Open up our understanding and not our predisposed ideas that are contrary to yours. Help us recognise culture and truth and help us overcome programming that is contrary to you. Lord we lift up those mentioned and those secret needs. We give you the glory for all in Jesus' name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? The media in the last 40 or so years has had such a huge impact on us and our way of life in this country. Stars are revered, if it's on TV it is accepted, behavior that half a century ago would have not been tolerated is acceptable now. Is this good or evil? Yes is the answer. Think about that. Illicit affairs are portrayed as normal and ok but think of the fallout from that momentary pleasure, they don't show that. That's but one example of behavior that is watched week after week. We really need to wake up and be very careful how we are trained and if you think those shows are not training you, well take a look at society as a whole lately. This is not meant as a downer but as a wake up call for what we accept as good behavior. Our momentary pleasure is driving advertising. Our momentary pleasure causes us to act on things that are deemed acceptable. We need to step back from that smooth good looking face on TV and think about what is said. Good delivery can make crap seem palatable. What is your gauge for ideas and behavior patterns? "If it feels good, do it" was an old catch phrase way back when. It was innocent and said in fun but think about how much trouble that would cause if it were adhered to. Our gauge has to be a stable, trustworthy one or we will fall for anything that strikes our fancy which could lead down a road not intended but the "cause and effect" from those choices can be life lasting. This being said, our best guide to compare ideas to is the Bible. Read the book of Romans and notice the patterns that arose. Here's a little to think about;

Rom 1:18-25
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
NIV

Rom 5:6-8
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
NIV

Rom 5:18-21
Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
NIV

Rom 6:19-23
I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NIV

I know today's is long but don't miss the point. Read Romans on your own and start gauging things you hear and see with Godly wisdom.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the wisdom that surpasses any we can get from mortal man. Lord, help us recognise evil and seek only good. Help us hear truth and dismiss the lies perpetrated around us. Open our hearts to your Word. In Jesus' name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? There's alot to be said about the salvation of our souls and so many denominations teach different ways of getting there. What does the Word say? The Word says through Jesus and no other way. For those of you who know Jesus as messiah, woohoo! For those who don't, lets talk. Do you have to get better to come to Jesus? If you could do that you wouldn't need him. Do you have to do it a certain way? If that were the case there would be a bunch of people in trouble. On your knees, in the car preferably with the eyes open, at the dinner table, walking along your favorite spot, confess you are a sinner and you can't save yourself. Acknowledge you fallen state and ask for the free gift given , Jesus. Jesus already paid for the gift, you just have to go to the counter and pick it up. Simple as that. Will all your troubles disappear? Get real, of course not. We are in the flesh so things done have consequences. This is old news to some but still great news. To those that it is new news, accept and step into eternity where our loving Father awaits with arms wide open.

Rom 3:19-26
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. NIV

So take the plunge, ask questions, read the Word, live knowing all this is indeed mortal and with the gift of salvation you have donned immortality. How cool is that?

Remember the lost...remember the new Christians and offer that hand of love...remember the kids who deal with society that is lost...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for having your love available to us all. Lord we lift the children up to you, protect and hold them and keep them from falling for the devil's schemes. Lord teach us of you love and the peace that passes all understanding. Let that joy knowing you have redeemed us well up and flow out. Lord we lift your name up and offer praises to you. Help us be beacons to the lost and fill our mouths with your wisdom and your words. In Jesus name we pray, amen!

Good morning! How are we faithing after the Thanksgiving weekend? I had a glorious time with my grand kids and family! God has truly blessed us!
Here are some interesting verses;

Col 4:5-6
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
NIV

What does that mean to act wise to outsiders? Grace filled conversation seasoned with salt? Being wise how you act to outsiders i.e. nonbelievers, is a testimony to what your belief system is. Speaking graciously and with prudence is what that means. We must not lord our beliefs over or condemn those who don't believe as we do. We must present Jesus with how we live and with scripture. Us speaking scripture while living as unbelievers do is useless. Telling those course jokes benefits no one and in fact hurts our witness. Full of salt doesn't mean speaking salty like a sailor, no offense to any sailors out there, but the prudence that Godly wisdom inputs on us when we read the Word regularly.

Col 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
NIV

If we cannot be distinguished apart from the world, what is our faith worth? Does that mean we are better or above others? Not all all but without the grace showing through and our firm belief and conviction our faith stagnates and helps no one. From what I've read in the Word and what Jesus has done for me I know that life from this moment on is in his hands and nothing here, although at the time it may suck, amounts to nothing compared to what lies ahead. Lift those eyes up off all the junk and live like you know Jesus has saved you. Think about that...

Remember Linda Hanzel...remember Jeff Reynolds...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your love for us that you would even consider giving you son instead of us for payment for sins. Help us live as redeemed people that we are. Lord we lift those in pain physically as well as mentally and emotionally. Heal and comfort them. We praise and worship you for who you are and all you have done and will do ahead. Our confidence is steadfast even when we don't quite get what is happening. We know your Word tells us it all has a purpose or at least you will use it for good for those who love you. Guide our mouths and protect us from the enemy, in Jesus name, amen
