Good morning! How are we faithing? For those in the northeast, be careful in the snow! I was looking at some old pictures of where I lived for 20 years. Man! The memories that arose were interesting. Some were really good and some kinda bit. As we grow and mature, hopefully mature, we have to keep our past in prospective. Some choices made were not so good and some were good. Some memories conjure up emotions that we thought we were done with and some make us sigh because they were good times. At those points in my life I made choices based on who and where I was as we all do. Regret? Yes, some, but rehashing and beating myself up over them isn't helping at all. Looking at the mistakes to learn so I won't repeat them, that's what is necessary. I've made some huge blunders but I also realize most were made with the information and maturity place I was at then. When we rationalize those actions so we can feel better about ourselves, that is a disservice to our own minds. Be honest with yourself. Only then can you move ahead and not repeat the same thing again. Seek truth and wisdom from reliable sources and take the WHOLE council of God. Whipping out a verse to justify an erroneous action is dangerous and just plain unwise. If you hear a "new" truth, compare it to scripture which is the only truth. Example,"eye for an eye, tooth for tooth" therefore I will kill that abortion doctor. If you look at the whole council of God you will see that there is more to that verse than that conclusion. Seek that council of God and what he is saying and not a verse to serve your intentions.

Phil 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.
NIV

Prov 4:18-19
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
NIV

2 Peter 1:5-9
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
NIV

Remember Julie Alvarez's grandson Elijah...remember Michael Riddle...

Heavenly Father,
We ask for wisdom and a leading so we do not turn to ourselves and repeat past mistakes. Lord, show us you way and don't let the darkness invade our Psyche. Lord we lift those children who are ill and ask for a miraculous healing! Lord be with all those involved in Haiti. Protect our minds from the evil one and show us your light in everything we do. I lift Earl J. to you, in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? Tough times? Having a hard time trying to figure out why things are the way they are? From relationships to our jobs, from family squabbles to confrontations on the street we must remember that if we seek God in all things that we will learn and grow from everything that goes on. We may learn we are to blame for a situation and thus try not to repeat the same mistake again or we find ourselves in the mix of something totally innocent of any wrong doing. So what will you glean from the situation? Will you curse and spit in anger or will you try to learn and focus on God expecting a lesson? It is interesting and actually as we grow in the Lord we see things unfold before our eyes. Sometimes we can avert disaster and sometimes our walking through with perseverance is for someone else's edification and not ours. What? I go though stuff so others can grow? Yep. For our growth and for others things transpire so lessons are learned but if we do not focus on God and let ourselves learn and grow, those times just become bad memories. Follow that? The Word tells us we will have good and bad times simply because we are here but God will not let us bear more than we are capable. Think about Moses; this guy is 40 when he hits the road away from Egypt. 40 years later God calls him back as a mouthpiece for him. Those 40 years as a shepherd across the desert from Egypt prepared him for the task. We can do the same with one hand up from even Moses. We have his story to look at as well as Joseph and Gideon and Noah and Paul and many many more. I don't know if they realized during their trials what lay ahead but because of their exploits, we can read about and be reassured that when we focus on God, we will come out better than before, even when it seems like the end.

Isa 25:1O
LORD, you are my God;I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
NIV

1 Cor 10:11-13
These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
NIV

Open our eyes to your lessons and help us receive and use your wisdom. We ask for your presence be so huge we can't miss it! in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing this fine day? I get alot of prayer requests and questions asked. Some are doctrinal type questions and some are life issues. Some issues are interesting and thought provoking. Some are heart wrenching. I believe that so many issues can be handled with basic thought process and ideals based on sound study with in scripture. Many advice columns in the world are so full of "me me me" that it sickens me when I hear these off hand advices repeated. They seem to flourish due to selfishness and they "sound right". We can read the scriptures and find that until we come to a saving knowledge of Christ we are prone to accepting doctrine that satisfies our basic carnal nature. That being said, not all worldly advise is bad. Some wisdom, simply due to life experiences, are passed on by men and women who have been through the same stuff you and I are going through and they already goofed up and are trying to teach us. Here are some verses with perfect guidance for our lives woes and pleasures. Read and meditate on them and if you have some questions, do your own research, ask questions, pray for wisdom, seek the one who made all of this.

Rom 13:8-14
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
NIV

That is some pretty awesome council right there...

Heavenly Father,

Lord, we ask for healings physically and spiritually for the people mentioned and those unspoken. Bless us and our endeavors in Jesus' holy name, amen

Great morning! How are faithing? It is so wonderful to have a faith and a belief system from God's Word for us to live by and to learn from. Things go on in life that just smack us up side the head and we wonder why they ever even happened. As I grow older physically my mind feels the same as it always has. Of course we learn more every day but have you really thought about that? Have you set yourself in your habits and ways of doing things so deeply that any change just throws you for a loop? Do you find yourself so abhorring diversity and change that you end up mad all the time? Yeah, I've caught myself doing it too. I've changed a zillion fan belts in my day and I saw a video of someone changing one in such a slick manner that it made me see that I still can learn something even as rudimentary as belt changing. Point is that learning never stops. On this same line of thought there are some things that are just the way they are and they don't change, or do they? Gravity is constant unless you are in space or on the moon. The principles are the same but the application varies. The one truth that never varies and is constant on earth and in the heavens is God and our salvation. One question is asked and determines where we are in eternity. Jesus the Christ, son of God and through him our only way to the Father, or not. A yes means eternity with him, a no means an eternity without him. The world argues this truth and is set in it's way and view towards this truth as it has since time began. This learning thing we just discussed remains true in the worlds eye, as long as that learning ignores God. Wow, they missed the mark on that one...

Phil 3:7-11
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
NIV

Good morning! How are we faithing? We need to lift the Haitian people up today. 7.0 magnitude earthquake in one of the poorest countries in the world. Calamity in this world really makes one sober up and be keenly aware of what is really important. Yes it's nice to have new carpet in the church but these people have no infrastructure anymore. What little they had is now gone. We are so blessed in this country and we need to remember that. This country will reach out to help like we always do and here is why;

Titus 3:3-7
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
NIV

This nation was formed with freedom in mind. Freedom from tyranny and freedom to live according to each ones beliefs. That freedom based on Christian values causes us to be compassionate to the rest of the world. This is good and noble. How can we be silent when we have such a savior as we have? How could we not help when suffering takes place? This also applies to you in your little section of this world. Are you forthcoming with compassion and love for the lost? Do you see physical needs in your neck of the woods and act accordingly? When we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus we are obligated by direction but more by desire to reach out to the lost we encounter. Here is something to remember if we get a little bound in our own deal and forget whence we came;

Col 2:13-15
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
NIV

Praise God! Remember the Haitian people today and the rescuers...remember Mark M...remember Floyd's friend...remember to rebuke the spirit of alcoholism...

Heavenly Father,
We praise your holy name and we ask for your touch on the people in need today. Lord we lift those mentioned and ask for a touch that will heal. Lord, sometimes we don't know how to pray and we just want to be held by you. Comfort us and equip us with a compassion for the lost. Lord we come before you with a desire to serve you. Calm us and show us your path. We rebuke the spirit of alcoholism from our midst in your holy name. It is in that name we pray, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? The turmoil and strife we encounter on this earth can be so overwhelming but we have solace and we have a peace from God that is not even understandable. I had a harrowing experience the other day while driving. I thought,"ruh roh...this is gonna hurt" but to my amazement, I didn't get frightened but keenly attuned to what was happening. When it was over, that nervous laughter ensued and I realized that it shouldn't have turned out as well as it did. Of course thanksgiving followed. "Thank you Lord" and "well I guess it ain't my time yet" were spoken aloud. We all encounter things that baffle us and often we cant for the life of us figure out why those things are happening. Then there are those times that we realize what we did and thusly, we're about to reap what was sown. Our Lord knows us better than anyone including ourselves and he knows what the consequences of our actions will bring therefore why do we not do what God says and leave the fallout to him? Think about that...

Luke 12:4-7
"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
NIV

Matt 6:26-27
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
NIV

Good morning! How are we faithing this cold cold day? Alot of things have happened this week. Many conversations and many events that have made me think and ponder. I'm seeing hurt, anguish, loss, trepidation, anxiety, happiness, joy and peace. We all meet with these things every day. Sometimes well removed from us and sometimes we are the focus of these things. The only constant in all of it is the privilege we have to go before the throne and we should remind ourselves to do just that whenever good or bad comes. Go immediately and I mean as soon as you are consciously aware. Man, God is in control, God knows all and he wants us to come to him without reservation and boldly. Us praying is for us. He knows already like we said but because of our makeup, the communion with him is brought about by prayer. By recognising we can do so because of his son we find that peace and joy. The ability to cry and mourn while simultaneously filled with peace and joy is only able to take place when we know Jesus as Lord and savior and even then we humans struggle so without Jesus, despair. I don't ever want to quench the Holy Spirit. I don't ever want my love and this peace to ever wane. These things we endure do have a purpose. We grow stronger and are able to be the next generation helping the young come up. I do look back and roll my eyes at the stupidity I've committed and try to learn from those mistakes. Do you or do you continue as always? These verses are really good at helping us focus and live in a manner fitting for someone who has a grace beyond understanding poured all over them.

1 Thess 5:12-28
Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
Be joyful always; pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Brothers, pray for us. Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
NIV

Heal heart, minds and bodies for your honor and glory, in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? Check out the imagery in these verses;

Mic 4:1-5
In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.
Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.
They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.
All the nations may walk in the name of their gods; we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
NIV

Man! Each sentence provides amazing detail. The old testament has such a way of speaking that the stories told and the lessons taught jump off the page! You know what is real cool? The lessons learned about apply to us now. Those verses above instill confidence and assurance for our future with God. Read more of Mica and see the things talked about in your minds eye. It is awesome in its depictions.

We ask that is comes so alive and relevant in our lives we need it as food daily. We lift those in anguish and those who are suffering loss this day. Keep them close to you and let them know you are holding them. Lord, protect the innocent. Guide our leaders and our troops, in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? It is a curious and sometimes sad thing when family or friends dislike you. It is painful to think the ones closest to you are so mad at you for your beliefs or actions. Some have endured this and some have not...yet. Here's the thing, our desires are based on what makes us feel good and our beliefs, when they appear to be under attack, can bring up a defensive posture that only leads to fights and misgivings . Misinterpretations or mishearing things said can create havoc. Sometimes these things go on so long we forget why we were ever ticked. Jesus told us that following him would cause this kind of alienation to happen. I don't agree with everything you do or say and you don't agree with everything I say or do. Ok, so what? The only thing that is true is the Word. The media has proven they can't always be trusted from the NBC false report on square body pick ups exploding to written twists on our Presidents actions. We need to ask, research things said or done that offend us and not immediately start a war with someone or even worse, shut them off from your life, until we find out the intent and what really happened or was said. Like the Word said, "hate the sin and not the sinner". I have mentioned certain sins in this daily for reasons known only to me and situations asked by others about and have had some others get butt hurt and offended by those statements. They have opted out of the daily and refused to talk to me anymore. You know what? That hurts. It really bites and I anguish over it. How about you? Ever just not know why someone is mad and they wont tell you? Be sure to ask for an explanation from the person who wound you up so you don't do the same. It may be a misinterpretation on your part or simple misspeak on theirs. Many fights have in sued over just not hearing or seeing correctly.
Our Faith in messiah will cause us to be shunned by some or worse, ignored. We need to be careful how we state sins committed. We should approach these sinners with love and a desire to help and lead them to Jesus and let Jesus solve the sin problem in them. It ain't our job to point out the failings of an individual but to present Jesus. People ask me specifically about certain sins and my answer is to show what the Word says. The statements like"if you do this or that you will go to hell" is counterproductive and condemning and untrue. One thing determines heaven or hell. Jesus. I want to show you some verses that are unsettling but we need to be aware of. This is not a nice easy bird singing flower smelling walk we are on. It is full of anger, wrath, dirty places and dirty tricks and we need to realize this and seek God in everything.

Luke 21:16-19
You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. All men will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will gain life.
NIV

Matt 10:21-23
"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
NIV

Matt 10:32-42
"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.' "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."
NIV

Thought provoking and sobering no? Get your bible out and read these full chapters and see truth and what is being said. I hope this sparks enough curiosity in you that you get your bible out and dig deeper...

remember Steph,Andrew and Manny...remember Stephanie Pflug...

Heavenly Father,
Open our ears to truth. Calm our spirit so we see truth and not the enemies lies. Help us understand the Word presented today. Lord we ask for understand peace and love so we can be ambassadors for you. Lord we don't get some things but we trust in you. We know you have it all under control so we ask for peace and a restful mind. Lord we lift those mentioned and await the miracle you have planned. We pray for our President and the other leaders in this nation that they come to an understanding and relationship with you. Lord, bring your presence to the forefront when we get in the way...in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? It's cold outside this morning! Reading some stuff this morning led me in a different direction than I thought I was going. Remember hearing,"eye for an eye, tooth for tooth"? It is very interesting to see why and the purpose of these rules in the old testament. Look at the context this comes from;

Ex 21:22-25
"If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
NIV

Lev 24:17-22
"'If anyone takes the life of a human being, he must be put to death. Anyone who takes the life of someone's animal must make restitution--life for life. If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him: fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has injured the other, so he is to be injured. Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a man must be put to death. You are to have the same law for the alien and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.'"
NIV

Deut 19:16-21
If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse a man of a crime, the two men involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the LORD before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against his brother, then do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from among you. The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you. Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
NIV

How interesting. That last set is very telling because it talks of purging evil. These were rules that most laws in the world were based on. Our lesson is not those laws today but our behavior towards others. Retaliatory behavior is not condoned by Jesus and our faith. We're not talking about protecting your family or self defense but things as simple as "I'll get them for..." or "I'll pay them back...". Those attitudes are not in step with the forgiveness we enjoy from our savior. We as believers need to pass on that same forgiveness even when we want to smack the tar out of someone. This goes beyond the physical too! What is your attitude? How do you think when you are wronged? Yes we all get ticked and lash out sometimes when first wronged but an attitude change must come and it can only come by Jesus and the filling our hearts and minds with the Word. Read those verses again and read this as a completion of the law;

Matt 5:38-42
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' "But I say to you, do not resist him who is evil; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. "And if anyone wants to sue you, and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. "And whoever shall force you to go one mile, go with him two. "Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
NAS

People are not surprised when we forgive necessarily but they sure take notice when we go further. If we are to show compassion like God did to us, we need to step out on faith beyond guttural feelings and stand on righteousness believing that these things are done because it is right. Love and grace goes further than retribution. We love because we have been loved. It ain't easy lots of times but it certainly is proper and we are much better off. Think about this ...

Remember Carol Richardson...remember the snow bound....

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for seeing us through the rough patches. Help us seek your love and grace and see things that happen for what they are. Help us understand justice and righteousness. Lord we struggle as you know with being hurt and being able to forgive. Help our hearts heal quickly and supernaturally so we can be ambassadors for you. We lift those in trouble today, grant wisdom and peace on their hearts and minds, in Jesus name, amen
