The impression I got from Bob was that the 9-1-1 Committee is only going to regulate the handling of 9-1-1 calls and not any other protions of the dispatching system. It seems like once the 9-1-1 call is handled, then the rest of it will fall on the individul dispatch centers SOP's.

If the county would have been smart, they would have made one PSAP for all agencies in the county and hired public safety dispatchers instead of police dispatchers. This would have alleviated almost all of the problems we have, but since the police chiefs didn't want to lose control over their dispatchers, they fought against that and created the system we currently have.

I think all PSAP's should be on the same page for all procedures, this would be a big help, but as along as there are multiple dispatching centers, we will never have a perfect system... just my 2 cents worth.

Congrats Willie on the grants. Sadly Iwas working and not able to make the meeting today. What our 911 system needs to be junked. Everyone needs to go to Jefferson County and see how they did it. Our system will never work as it SHOULD or is CAPABLE of. It is a far better than we had yet it is the cheapest fix the county could have. Getting all the agencies on the same page will be a hard task however cant be imposible. the biggest opstical is PRIDE. There is not one of us here that doesnt have an idea how to improve 911. Great Tims going to say I'm on a rant..

I attended the 911 meeting today, and with all the discussion at the last FF's meeting concerning 911 problems, no one else showed up to express their concerns. Our county association rep was there, but he was not at the county meeting, so he didn't hear all the complaints of concern. The Chiefs rep was there and there was a discussion on our problems. All entities need to get on the same page and communicate as to how the 911 system is set up, and everyone needs understand the differences in how all calls are received and the capability of the 911 system. We'll have to see what shakes out in Thurs. paper, if they get it right.
