Hey Guys, Sorry Im not able to comment much. My job is getting pretty busy now and the headaches at the station are getting to me at times. My daughter is playing softball, and a word to all married guys, dont ever let your wife talk you into buying a swimming pool. Stay Safe, I still drop in to read but comment time is limited

yes Willie,it really hit the nail on the head!!!!!! Instead of asking questions we just go with the flow so we don't make waves. F-THAT ask the question and shake things up, everyone knows the fire service changes (yes I said change) every day!!

Hey, did any of you read the featured blog on the FFN home page titled, "The Monkey Parable and the Resistance to Change" ? It sure touches base with alot of the comments from several of our members on our county site.

Tom is right. some of the dispatchers that we have in EP mainly the one in charge of training of new dispatchers only tells them about police bus.
and to top it all of she said that she wasn't given an SOP telling her that she is to send Faxes to our clark street station!!!

Thanks, Max. We're fine, now.

The SOP will never cover all of the dispatching practices as long as the PSAP's are controlled by police chiefs and as long as the dispatchers have the mentality that the are police dispatchers that are forced to do fire and EMS dispatching and not public safety dispatchers.

Did you happened to notice the look that all 3 police chiefs gave me when I suggested that we actually get a dispatcher or two on the equipment sub-committee? The all show up, but I bet that none of them know anything about call taking or dispatching. I could be wrong, but I call them as I see them.

BINGO! Tom, you are exactly right on all points. There was supposed to be a PSAP SOP drawn up, I don't know if this was ever completed.

You are correct Tom with what Bob told you. The part he left out was when a PSAP took a call they was to ask whats your emergency then transfer the call to the correct service. what is happening at one of them they are getting half the info calling saying this is what you have we are slammed and hanging up the phone.. They are slammed because they are operating outside the operation level they are to have.
