Moral Question: I go to mass typically on Sunday evenings. It has happened a few times, where on my way to mass, we get a fire call. My department is small, and I am only one of a very few number of EMTs. Do I continue on to Mass (because it is usually my last shot for mass of the week), or do I go to the emergency call? Both seem right and kind of wrong, does anyone else have any wisdom on this?

I also where my St. Florian medal everyday. Myself, and the rest of my family are on the department, and even being from a small town, anything can happen. Having faith no matter what can change anything

I wear a St.Florian Medal and say a prayer for the crews on duty every day. I say a little prayer everytime I see an apparatus.I don't hide my faith. Moreover, I believe that it was my faith that started me down the path to be a firefighter/emt, and I beleive it will be my faith that will get me there.

I do not hide the fact that I am Catholic and believe in God, I try to help those that are struggling with their faith and let them know that it is alright to live their faith in public. I cross myself everytime our trucks roll out and and say a Hail Mary for everyone that rolls out with us.

Guess I might be the odd one. I started off studying to become a priest and somehow I got sidetracked to Fire/EMS and I love it.
Not only am I the PA of a Catholic Parish, but also on the road to Medic now.
I do not hide the fact that I work for a Church - but then I also know that there is a time and a place for all.

I try not to make it obvious or uncomfortable for anybody else. I do bless myself when I get on a truck and pack up and I try to get a Hail Mary in my the time we get to the scene. If some one else in the truck sees me and decides to follow, all the better.

I forgot to wish everyone a happy Saint Florian's Day! On our patron saint's day we try to have the local priest come over and bless the apparatus for us. Anybody else do anything?
